    Tuned methanol injection

I have just tuned my car for methanol injection.. Has lead me to ask the question how many of you are running tuned mwthanol injection and with what success? Has it proven reliable? I have a basic system with a fairly agressive tune. The only failsafe being almost stock knock sensor settings with an agressive retard table in the tune..

Wondering on evryones set ups as well.. Please share.. seems like it is some sort of dark art that people are reluctant to discuss...

Tuning works. Very safe. Only thing is, if the solenoid fails or if for some other reason the dope isn't delivered it will make for a nice door stop. I just use it to lower iat's and don't tune for it.

I have a procharger running 8psi boost on stock 5.7 litre. Main reason I tuned was my afrs were through the into the low 10s to high 9s with it and I was getting missfire codes.. Started tuning. Have tuned on the worst fuel I can find so when I run normal fuel It will always be safer..

I live in a country town in australia ans have no access to e85.. Fuel alone doesnt give you the cylinder cooling that water / meth does.. Running a stock bottom end I need all the cooling I can get..

Problem is if you run out of meth your tune will eat the Engine ASAFP

Tune for gas in tank, have another Tune for track use with the Meth. Just make sure you never run out at the track.

Also you may want to back off the boost a little if you NEED meth for Daily driving use.

You are missing what we are telling you.

We KNOW it works. BUT when you are tuned for it as part of your REQUIRED fuel, and the meth runs out, pump dies, pop a fuse you go LEAN, very lean at that as you loosing the cooling and fuel part of injecting it.

If its only a race car no biggie, using to try to make your 6.1 pistons live as a tuned part of your set up ( daily driving ) is a bad idea.

Anyway, it's your ride, have fun with it. Start saving your 5p's for a Long block.

I really don't wanna come off sounding like I am being smart or anything cos I truly understand what your trying to say. I know the risks involved. The thread was started more to hear how people had tuned for failsafes or had experiences with systems. Like I know they CAN fail. But how many actually do? I have just explained how I have tuned my car in my other post to try to add as best of a failsafe as I can. I have a stock bottom end 5.7 l with 8psi boost. It was fuel tuned. I wanted the cooling effect of meth injection to ward off cylinder temps. When I fitted it ( un tuned ) I kept getting missfire codes cos the mix was way rich. The tuning started by pulling fuel and took off from there. Oh and the vid. Sorry bout that just found it tonight and thought is was cool. Didn't mean anything by it. Cheers.

Does it tell you if the solenoid fails?

    If a line is clogged?

A gun with the safety on isn't supposed to fire, but you wouldn't want to put one to your head. Why would you want to put a gun to your motor? All it takes is one failure and BOOM!
