Hey Gary, congrats again on winning the pistons. I agree with Erik in that it is ultimately cheaper to just build the 5.7 block out. Hell, if you wanted to go really cheap and stay in the 5.7 class you could just put the forged pistons in with a good set of rod bolts (arp 2000 /viper bolts), rebalance the assembly and run the hell out of it.
Also, mopar offers a forged crank for the 5.7 that runs about 500.00 or so but at that point you might as well do a stroker anyways. Here are a couple typical combos I was looking at last year when I deciding for myself which direction to take.
Typical 5.7 stroker, cubes can vary with slight differences in bore job and amount of stroke:
bore x stroke
3.93 x 4.050/4.080 = 392 +/-
Eventually if you wanted to move up to the 6.1 block and grow more cubic inches the same stroker crank and rods could be used in conjunction with a 6.1 piston/block to build a 426 down the road:
6.1:
bore x stroke
4.055 x 3.92 = 392
4.055 x 4.050/4.080 = 426+/-
Actual CI will vary a bit depending on whether you bore it out. Hope that helps a bit. Have fun deciding.
Chris
