the rear ones are not mufflers they are resonators, the ones in the middle are mufflers.
You can remove the resonators, a lot of people do that, like I did with my 95 SS and put jumbo chrome tips, as for the mufflers (in the middle), keep them or REPLACE them with universal fit flowmaster or magnaflow (I like magnaflow/straight through design).

I removed the resonators and the mufflers just for ****s and giggles till i get my exhaust. I like it, it sounds really cool..........except when your on the highway at about 80 which is what i normally cruise at. Then its annoying as hell. To much vibration and sound. I am waiting to get my CAI and hopefully by christmas ill have some headers. Then i intend to put some mufflers on it and the headers on it, at the same time removing the cats (if i can without screwing up the cpu). Cant wait to be finished, car is gonna sound awesome.

This is not Monster Garage, why would you remove the cats?, to fail the inspection and pollute the air?
If you want more HP, get high flow cats and have a muffler shop weld them on.
And once you get that CAI, you can expect much more noise and resonance form the exhaust, then you'll definately need mufflers, Magnaflow is straight through, so it's like HAVING straight pipes.

I think it is Monster Garage, more or less.
I tried the straight pipe route. The first set up was replacing the resonators with 3A racing resonators. Not loud enough.
Then removed the suitcase" and welded the pipe straight through. It was loud (which was good) but the resonance and vibration was were intolerable.
The final setup is MagnaFlow resonators replacing the 'suitcase" and the 3A Racing resonators in the rear. I like it, but I'm curious about going straight back FROM the MagnaFlows. We'' see!
