Question Rev limit? Can it Go AWAY?!

Curious to know....when I stomp the gas in park or neutral, the engine revs to about 3800 then just sits there...what would it take to remove that limiter? I have flashpaq...that did nothing.

It was pretty embarrassing when my neighbor asked me to "light 'em up"...I stepped on the brake a bit, floored it, the wheels barked like a miniature chiuahah...haha...I cowered in the house and haven't been out since...

Any help to revive my pride would be appreciated!

Removing the rev limiter won't help you to impress your neighbor with a big smoky burnout. It's there to protect your motor from damage due to....well....over-revving. It would be nice if we could raise the rev limiter about 2-300 RPM's as I regularly bounce off of it on a downshift from WOT on the highway.

On a side note, did you shut off the ESP before attempting your burnout? If yes, then apply only enough brake pressure to keep the car from rolling as you gently increase the amount of throttle. Then modulate the pedals accordingly to maintain the spin. Good luck and have fun!

If you want to give him an early morning wake up call, set yourself up in front of his house, step on the brake, turn esp off, put it in 1st, and ease on the gas until he gets a nice smoke show complete with smell-o-vision.

i have a B&G pcm and it does not have the in park/neutral rev limiter. maybe with the diablosports predator you'll be able to?

revving in neutral isnt going to help this situation is it? i mean if you neutral drop our cars, isnt all hell going to break loose? literally.

what Jonz suggested is best, esp off (fully 'off' if you can) holdd the brake til just before you move, and the tires will spin and spin and give you that sweet smell of success. then just lift the brake and leave your signature on the street in front of his house.

PS, make sure to goose or pump the throttle before you get to redline, or you end up just slowing down the burnout to almost nothing basically, like i did the first couple times i tried. good luck.

You won't have to step very hard on the brakes. When I had the Continentals a Mustang GT convertable came up on my bumper at a lite and started reving his motor. I gave him a smoke show that he will never forget, light turned green and I drove off, but he was sitting in a big cloud of Continental tire smoke, poor bastige!

It's not the rev limiter that you are dealing with on a burnout... its HAL.

HAL does not like when the brakes are applied and the front wheels are stationary while the rear wheels are screaming... he thinks the car might be losing control and shuts down the throttle.

In this case all you need to do is simply turn off the ESP, and LIGHTLY apply the brake. Just enough to prevent you from moving, but not locking up the brakes. Ease gently onto the throttle and then when you feel resistance bring the gas to the floor while easing up just a tad on the brakes.

The actual rev limiter is in place for when you're in neutral or park to prevent overreving of the engine which at the best reduces the lif of your motor, and at the worst can blow your motor. You WANT this feature to be in place.

Thanks for all the tips! I knew you all would have some answers
I'll have to try a few away from the house and then proudly return to the neighborhood...haha!
As for WOT in neutral, nope...would never do that and then drop it in gear...I know thats a no-no! I actually first noticed the limiter after I bolted on an Air Hammer and revved in park...then tried neutral...yearning to hear how loud the sweet music would be
Thanks again, hopefully something WILL come out allowing us to raise the limit.
