    Returning signs of NAG1 failure

It's only been 503 miles since I had the transmission flushed and filter changed and my Magnum showed returning signs of transmission failure. It wouldn't engage from "PARK" to "DRIVE" on the initial attempt. It did work on the second attempt.

I have been "babying" the Magnum for that period of time.
    Looks grim.

hmm, was the valve body dropped and inspected? the pump pressure regulator is in the valve body on these cars, and there was a tech tip on having debris binding the shuttle valves. the file was on the shift valves, but inspection of the valve body might be something to keep in mind. contacting southern hot rod is also a good idea, they have spent a good deal of time on these transmissions.

are we talking about the transmission not engaging, or the shifter not moving? i assumed an engagement issue, but now that i think about it, it sounds like a shifter lockout issue. details?

Thats what I was thinking. Some folks make the mistake of not putting the shift cable back in the right spot on the shifter after installing our part.

So I just want to make sure before he spend an arm and a leg trying to diagnose the problem..

Clarification: Shifter moves where I wish whenever I wish, sometimes it doesn't engage.

I'll also be calling my dealer's service manager to see my options of what he will offer to do as warranty work.

Tomorrow I start the wheels to turning to install the NAG1-HTC.
Possibly, I'll be operational by Thanksgiving.

Well I am *rarely* having the same problem. RT Nomad, what have you heard on this behavior up to now? Sorry I missed anything you learned previously on this.

What I have found is if I engage it, and it doesn't, and I let it sit, it will kick in if I wait it out. Maybe 15 seconds worst-case. If I give it some gas it can engage and shudders while doing so.

    ouch

    sounds bad.

speed of engagement into forward or reverse is always the biggest indicator of impending failure in any automatic. When it becomes markedly slower than usual you're not far from trouble.

I must say that in ordinary vehicles they can be nursed around for a while, sometimes a long while.
