    Rear spoiler/wing

ok, this is likely going to be a stupid question but I can't seem to find any conclusive evidence on the topic. I have a charger which obviously has a very large spoiler/wing that creates a fair amount of down force on the car. This is fine for road course and daily driving, at least in my opinion.

That said at the track, some of the old school drag racers have commented that the spoiler would/does actually hurt performance when going down the 1/4 mile track? I haven't tested this out but was curious if anyone else had? Looking at real drag cars that have spoilers, they generally come straight off the trunk unlike our charger wings....

    thoughts?

i doubt the chargers rear wing produces all that much downforce. Its more of a cosmetic 'sporty' thing

Well, we just had a nice demonstration of aerodynamics at the LX&B event...

A Viper ACR in a drag-race with a stock Viper (no aero at all), the ACR lost by about .5 seconds, I think. It was a noticeable difference, to be sure! Keep in mind though, the aero-mods on the ACR produce significant downforce, which also creates drag.

So in theory if I am hitting the traps at 115 mph I am experience so down force thus drag so it might make a little difference, not much but enough to try it out w/out the spoiler....
