    Rear resonator delete adds power?

    Just curious about your thoughts.
Does cutting off the rear resonators from a STOCK exhaust add power? Any dyno runs to confirm?
I'm concerned with the 5.7, but info on the V6 or 6.1 would be cool too.

Bandit, not doubting you, but that is a LOT - especially considering some full systems seem to claim only about 11 or so.
btw, I enjoyed your sound clips.

Plus don't forget the reduced weight. When I cut my resos off I would bet they weighed about 20 pounds each whereas the JBA pipes I replaced them with maybe weigh 5 pounds each.

That may not relate to direct hp gain, but it will relate to slightly better times by reducing the weight.

Plus hell... they sound INFINITELY better!!

    Thanks.

I too would have doubted it, but after a dyno run with only a CAI added and the Blastin' Bob's I pulled just about 43rwhp more than stock. The CAI attributed about 20hp and the only other addition at the time was the pipes.

I cut mine off last weekend, and haven't gotten the silly grin off my face yet!

Seems there's more power, but you know how that goes, sound can feel like power.

I pulled 304hp @ the RW with a MUFFLER delete and a CAI on my 5.7.

Sorry though, can't comment on the resonators.

Hell deleting the weight alone adds HP

I'm not sure how it relates in R/T systems really. Mine was one of the 1st for the 6.1 and back then Bob had not assigned a db level to it. There was only one option... at this point me might be offering other options like he always did on the 5.7.

A VERY reliable source at DCX tells me that the rear resonator on the stock 3.5L has the highest amount restriction over the muffler. Removing the resonator would result in a pretty decent horse power increase. However, due to the rear cavity in the Magnum, you could have an issue with exhaust drone at various conditions.
