No heat shield. Looks like it would suck more hot air in then it would cold.

Agreed. It doesn't look like a better option than a K&N replacement filter.

This is probably worse than the stock intake. At least in stock form, the filter is sitting inside a airbox to prevent hot air to be drawn in. I understand cone filters suck more air in, but if it's hot air, you are not any better than before.

Man, I gotta get INTO this business! $225.00 for a short piece of bent pipe, a PCV fitting, and a cone filter.

Thanks for the advice. Im surprised to see magnum owners with that kind of negativity. But I like it.

Oh, I don't think any guy here is negative about modifying the Magnum :-)

But you have to be careful about what you are buying. There is a lot of professionals in the aftermarket and performance parts business, but there is also unfortunately lots of guys who just profit FROM the ignorance of car owners and sell them stuff that isn't worth much.

Short Ram Intake such as the one sold here might only give you a few HP of gain, if any. That's damn expensive per HP considering the 225$ price. Better buy a system HAVING at least a heat shield. This may double the HP gain of a short ram intake, and it isn't much more expensive.

I agree with everyone else, that's really not going to be much better than the stock box, it will suck in more air but it's going to be much hotter nulifiing most of the gains FROM the added airflow, not to mention it's way overpriced, the 360 intake is $205 with a custom powder coated tube and heat shield box, personaly i'd go with a K&N DROP in filter for the stock box before that.

Right on, I am dropping in a $39.00 K&N replacement, opening up the airbox, bringing in air FROM behind the grill, sealing off the engine compartment, and removing the intake resonator. I think I will end up with a better setup for much less price.

That's exactly what I did, but I'm still working on ducting some cooler air INTO the hole(s) I drilled INTO the front of the airbox.

    Cold air intake

    Whats up everyone.
Hi, Im Rick Gindoy of Pro Zen Motorsports.
I understand the issue about heat in the engine bay. And I agree with most of you, it may seem like it gets heat. And it Does like all intakes including one with a box. The reason why I didnt do a box is because its easy to duct air FROM the front of the car behind the bumper. You can easily duct the air with dryer duct FROM Home depot. But do not attach to the intake its self so you wont get water up in your system. Either way when your at idle you will get hotter air. Its common sense. When your driving you will get cooler, just a bummer that the engine bay is so small and the engine is so big. If cost is an issue I have them with NON k&n filters for under 2 bills shipped.Plus members of the GROUP here get 15% off. I just would be cheap on a 36K car.

But the best bang for your buck .... I would do is get a DROP in K&N filter and call it quits. And not buy in to the CAI wrap..unless it has a way to route the cold air FROM your AC to your box..NO intake is cold air.
I will add the some DROP in K&N's to the site

    take care everyone
    Rick

It would be easy to add a box to the
chrome tube setup. It really will make a difference in lowering the intake air temperature if the bax seals well, and there is a good source of cold exterior air.
