Pics of K&N, modified airbox, and stock exhaust

Since there's so much talk of the muffler, resonators, and airbox, I thought I'd post pictures of mine, so those who haven't started tinkering with their RTs know what we're talking about!
I modified the stock airbox by "ventilating" it with a hole saw 8) , taking INTO account heat sources for the best balance between airflow and inlet temperature.

Here's a shot of the stock resonators (20lb. each!) behind the bumper:

And the suitcase muffler (25lb.!, with a key beside, for size comparison):

The air silencer (3.5lb.) outlet INTO the airbox:

    The air silencer inlet:

    The air silencer restrictor inside:

K&N filter in place (I didn't modify the airbox lid):

    Modified airbox front:

    Modified airbox side/rear:

    Modified airbox bottom:

I like the effect of the airbox! Plus that fact that the mods only cost me $5 for a hole saw and $40 for the filter through Jeg's. It definitely pulls harder FROM the midrange on up, and the revs don't slow, even up at redline.
I put Magnaflows in place of the suitcase muffler and straight pipe in place of the resonators. I love it, and so does my wife!

WTF! The stock exhaust is only 2 pieces. The right side rear muffler is welded to the suitcase. Dumb!

I know! Isn't that weird?!? I would've thought that there would be a flange on each tailpipe after the suitcase, but, oddly, only on the driver's side.
    I LOVE AIR HOCKEY!!

    a question...

billapex how did you get the silencer out? I was looking at mine today and it looked like you have to either remove the inner-fender well or the bumper. Or both!?

Just wondering if there might be a way to "ram-air" something in place of the silencer. Looks like there is room. But I'd like to know how to get it out first. Thanks!

The fender liner can stay in place. I just undid the fasteners securing the driver's side of the plastic undertray, pulled it down about 12", stuck a ratchet in there with an extension, and undid the one bolt holding in the silencer. It slid right out. Super easy--took about 20 minutes, and that was in the dark. (Yeah, I got the itch to do it right now. )
