OK so I got my system flushed last week, and I figured now is a good time to change the coolant to distilled water and WATER WETTER (pink stuff sold at all auto parts stores additive to water to keep coolant temps down by 20 degrees).
I searched all my normal sites, found nothing on how to change the coolant or where the drain is, or the release to drain it.
I PM'd 5 people that I thought might know, 3 said they pay someone to do it, and two were a huge help, and one hit the nail on the head for me. PROPS to HEMI31 from LX forums, and Jason from the OC.
First, I llifted the car and removed the front passenger tire for access... Then I removed the passenger side under the fascia (few bolts and a few re usable push pins. Found the drain right there in plain site, and followed it up about 3 - 4 inches and found a plastic release valve that turn counter-clokwise to release the drain for the coolant. (I used some rubber hose to attach to the drain to make it a lil longer. After that drained, it took a while, I removed the overflow canister and cleaned it out as good as possible, after only a week, it was discolored and not all that new looking :thumbsdow
After drain, and clean I added the wetter and water, and realized you have to release the hose on the top of the overflow container so the air will push the coolant into the engine and radiator. I started the car, warmed it up to about 180, which was about 20 degrees less than normal, and stopped the car, released the air, and did this 3 times to purge the air from the system.
I hope this helps someone, I will update this when I see if the distilled water, and wate wetter helps temps. (no need for antifreeze here, I asure you...)
