For the people wondering/waiting on a K&N FIPK air intak
I sent an email to K&N asking whether they were going to release a FPIK intake system in addition to the typhoon one that already have out and if so if it would give better performance then the Typhoon. I got this repsonse (rather promptly too i might add):
Dear Cory,
It is true on some models where both a Typhoon and FIPK are offered, the FIPK might make a little bit more power. This is because with the molded tube, we can control the airflow and turbulences with more precision than the constant diameter of the Typhoon kit. Typically though, the difference would not be noticeable if you drove both back to back, so we tell customer it is also about personal preference and how you want the kit to look. The polished Typhoon has released, and there is an FIPK in development. But this does not guarantee one will make it to production. Testing, design, and manufacturing are all variables, so unfortunately I also cannot give a possible release date. But they are attempting to come out with an FIPK. If one does release, you may see it called an Aircharger kit first. This means the kit is pending to be 50-state legal, and then it will change to an FIPK.
Thanks for writing,

Awesome. So now the waiting game begins (if you want to wait for the FIPK). I personally don't like the Typhoon. Looks too ricer to me.

yeah it's great that they're giving people an option....options are good, i love that the Hemi is getting love FROM the aftermarket crowd.....i was hoping that the FIPK would give a noticeable performance gain but oh well....i'll probably go with the 360.
