    Painting the throttle body....

Hey there, I was wondering if anyone has painted or powdercoated the throttle body on their 5.7 or 6.1. Or if anyone has information that this is not a good idea?

    Thanks!

powdercoat may not be the best idea - that cover over the gearbox is plastic. If you masked it off and painted it w/ good paint, it might hold. Prolly wanna use high-temp... it doesn't get too hot, but still hotter than Krylon will probably be happy with :-)

You can't powder the Tb. You can't dismantle it to do so. Also like T pointed out, the electronics cover is plastic. Here's what I have done on three of them. Pollish the band first. Then tape of the band and TB and paint the electonics cover with plastic paint, revese the taping and then paint the TB with good metal paint. I use semi gloss black, I've done the gloss black and it doesn't look as nice or blend as well as the semi does.

    Here's the semigloss

here's the gloss..........I know, hard to tell the difference.

Thanks super T, I think that sounds like the best idea...especially masking off the plastic.

That looks good Cam. I had mine polished (actually swapped mine plus cash for a polished one - thanks Don!!!) and I like the way it looks but everything else on top of the engine is also polished so that helps.
