Oh, eagles. Sorry, I haven't played with those yet. I know the perch area needs to be opened up for the larger diameter. I would stay with the stock keepers and retainers. Don't use the Crower retainers, they suck and will need to be turned down so they don't impact the rocker. As far as a keeper, the stock three grove unit is solid. Locators, I prefer the Comp CCA-4705. But for those springs, and not knowing the eagle head, I don't have a suggestion on the thickness of the locator.

So a quick question. What are these heads going on and what cam are you running. Proper pressure really makes a huge difference.

Hey boss, I just got a text from one of our helpfull invisible vendors. Manley makes a locator that fits the eagle head perfectly. .200 thick which will net you a 1.8 installed height. Personnaly, if you're staying NA and not running some monster cam, I'd back off the installed height and drop the seat pressure to 130lbs. Your lifters will thank you.

We have Ti and steel retainers in both 7 and 10*. The 7's are going to be a R511 or R311 and 10 is going to be a R510 or R310. The correct seats for that spring is a S-111.

Any other question feel free to ask.

ok, i got a bunch of conflicting PM's. Thank you guys. I just want to get this right. part of the problem is me. i took the heads apart a long time ago and didnt know what i was talking about.

another problem is PAC's website doesnt give me the info i am looking for so maybe Matt can help.

my stock retainer's OD is .896 ID is .618. i would like to know what the 311 measures and would also like to know if PAC's 7 dgree is compatable with stock locks

my retainer weighed .04oz which is 11 grams

another important piece of info i'm missing is the top of the 1219 spring demensions

my stock springs measure at the top OD 1.07 ID is .650

bottom of the spring is OD 1.36 ID (effing forgot to write it down)

another part of my confusion was the locators

with my heads came big shims OD 1.53 ID .865 and it appears the big boss around the valve guide will be the locator

so the question now is, can i use 1219's with the stock retainers?????

since i'm posting pics, i ported my head and if someone sees something screwed up, now would be a good time to find out. also did a 30* backcut on the stock valves

also, we need companies like PAC to start making valve locks. i am not high on the idea of using the stock retainers and locks but I dont really like mixing matching stock locks with someone retainers either.

If we dont ask, we my never receive. my 2 cents

It would be hard to convince an aftermarket performance company to mess with 3-groove locks, especially when you start talking about changing the the lock angles. Aftermarket performance companies don't do enough volume to match the price of the oem suppliers. You'd just be spending extra money for the same stuff.

Now throw in an aftermarket single-groove valve, and matching lock/retainer, and they'll do that. In this case, the extra $$$ would be spent on an actual improvement, which is marketable for a performance company.

Unless, the spring just doesn't fit the retainer properly, I'd keep the stock retainers and locks, personally.
