Unhappy Only 6 RWHP from B&G Stage II flash?

Just hoping for some input here as I just got back from the dyno and was hoping for some better results then what I got.

First, I went to the same dyno 2 weeks ago and put down 376/373. My mods are, CAI, no cats, cut-outs, zoomers exhaust, and 180 T-stat.

I just got the B&G flash and went back today. Put down 382/375. So I only gained 6 HP and 2 TQ. Obviously I was hoping for better.

The conditions at the dyno were a bit different. But the #'s are SAE Corrected so that shouldn't make a difference. First trip the intake air temp was 77 degrees w/ a SAE correction factor of 1.02. Second trip the air intake temp was 91 degrees w/ a SAE correction factor of 1.04. So the air temp was higher, but so was the SAE correction faster.

The flash leaned me out a bit too. Approx .2 - .5 across the powerband. At the end of my run on the first trip I ended up a 12.0 A/F. W/ the flash I finished with a A/F of 12.5.

I put 92 in my car. And I mixed in 2 galons 100 octane gas to get a good 94-95 mix.

Thats pretty much all the info. Any thoughts? I'm pretty disapointed, expecially with the cost of the flash. :(

Well, I need to get out of here for the day. Hey, here's the deal. You have to put at least a couple hundred miles on the BnG. During that period, drive it every kind of way possible. Also, prior to the dyno, flog the crap out of it. The adaptives will take over and then re-dyno. If your still showing low numbers, send it back to Dave with the dyno info.

I had kinda figured it didn't have enough miles on it. Some will say that it takes as much as 500 miles to really burn it in. I can tell you that the last time I changed the tune, it took a 1000 miles to get it together, but that was my own fault. I did not teach her how to idle first...........my bad.

Ya, I removed the flash on Tuesday becuase I had my car at the dealer, so I was just being carefull. I still have my stock PCM. I put about 100 miles on it since then when I dyno'd. I had no idea you had to put so many miles on it before the HP #'s started to show. You really think thats the problem?

And what do you mean, "flog" it before the dyno?

To flog means to run it hard

I installed my B&G II yesterday and put around 50 miles on it. No dyno yet but that's coming.

Performance mod wise my car is completely stock right down to the stock air filter.

The 1st noticable impression is how the thing shifts. I think the improved shifting really shows up on the track in ET rather than the horsepower gains...at least for right now. I know I've got to drive it hard most of the time for maybe the 1st tank full in order for the B&G to fully come alive.

Like some who have it stated before this is how the car should have performed from the factory. I can't wait to get my catback and cai to wake it up even more.

Pricewise it's not the best bang for the buck mod but it certainly will exploit any other bolt on engine mods to its potential.

I won't ever go back to the stock tune for anything!!!

The stage 2 flash isnt going to add large amounts of power. There is increased part throttle and wot timing, but the major benefit of the flash is the elimination of tq management, increased idle if needed, increased rev limit, and firmer shifts along with many other small improvements. It has shown time and time again to improve your 1/4 mile et by .2 which is a really nice gain. It does not add alot of power, but it frees up more of what was already there that is being held back by tq management.

So basicly the "adverstised" HP and TQ gains were B.S.?

The more you mod your car, the more the B&G is helpful. The flash alone isnt going to help a great deal, but when you start doing the standard mods, it seems to allow the computer to retain the improvments rather than the standard detuning HAL does. Thats my experience anyway. Everyone has a different opinion of the flash, but there is no doubt that it helps your track times.

Guess I'll have to put some more miles on it and see if that makes a difference. I will be going to the track in 2 weeks, so I'll be able to see if theres an improvement there.
