Need Help! Cherry Bomb Vortex Catback

Can anyone with this catback exhaust please tell me if the h-pipe whatever it is is supposed to be installed with the flat plate between the pipes up or down (the flat piece closer to body of car or closer to ground)?

To be more specific, I am having some rattling I think is caused by the mufflers touching the heat shield. I already removed the one around the h-pipe, but there is still a rattle. The mufflers are very tightly packed and not centered. I did not have a instruction guide to go by, so I am wondering if it is poor fitment or I installed incorrectly.

    Any help would be great.

Thank you. Do your mufflers touch each other in the middle? If you can check to make sure, i would really appreciate it.

My muffler did touch so I had the shop weld a spacer between them. If you haven't already, check for the tailpipe hitting the cradle.

I am still looking for an answer about the proper install of the "H" pipe with the welded flat connecting part facing the car or the ground (up or down). Thank you.

I know its not a real H pipe, thus the "H" in quotes. It serves the same purpose and I am not sure what it would be called. They are the pipes that run from the stock mid pipes to the mufflers. There is a welded plate between the two pipes. I want to know if it should be up or down please.

The pipe with the offset bend goes to the passenger side. My mufflers do not touch. There is probably an 1 1/2" between them.

thank you so much. That answered my questions. I worry I may have gotten the wrong mufflers, as I pieced this kit together with the pipes and the mufflers purchased separately. I will have to figure out a way to make it fit better, but mine definitely does not have that kind of clearance between the mufflers. Mine are also a flat black color.

I purchased 2 88102 mufflers that are 2.5" inlet and outlet.

i determined 1 muffler was backwards and the "h" pipe was using the bend in the wrong direction. Although the mufflers are reversible, if you look into them, they are not the exact same both directions of flow. Fitment was better, I just need to adjust the tips to look better.

Interestingly, the exit side of one muffler does not match up the the resonator delete pipe well. It is loose and I do not think I can squeeze the muffler outlet tube to fit the pipe with the clamp alone. I may have to remove it again and lightly pound it to size.

If you have an exhaust shop close you can see if they would expand that pipe slightly for a better fit.

Thanks. It maybe worth it. I am curious what some trips around town might do with the change in pitch and volume level. I think I may have made things quieter, but it is too early to tell.

It would make sense that it is less loud, as the muffler design dissipates sound better if the internal fin is closer to the inlet tube. You may know what I am talking about if you look at a diagram of the vortex muffler.
