Need advice. What should I get bigger cam or TQ converer?

I've been saying for a couple of weeks now that I would like to put a bigger cam this spring. But then i was thinking maybe i would be better off getting a TQ converter instead. If you guys had to make this choice, which would it be? I recall a vendor about a month or so ago, can't remember right now who it was, was really happy with the TQ converter and swore it bettered his time at the track and driving experience. Anyways, the cam of choice would be the tomahawk and verter the ProTorque converter. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. I may be able to swing both, but if I needed to choose one....

I have a very similar set up to yours and would go with the verter first (I also have the Pro-Torgue and love it). It will help bring out more of your set-up's total potential by putting you in the fatter part of the powerband quicker. Especially if you plan on going with a larger cam in the future which will move the power band even further up the RPM range.

You won't regret it but your tires will hate you!

They compliment each other. A cam will strengthen your powerband, while a torque converter will allow you to more effectively use it off the line. I'll put it this way... if you're spinning your tires, the torque converter is only going to make it worse. IMHO, get the cam to make the power, then worry about harnessing it.

**edit** Just realized who I was talking to... you already have a cam, do the converter!

Converter first. The higher end cam would not work as well without the converter to get it up in the powerband quickly. I believe a 2800 Pro Torque would be the way to go! Then down the road add a bigger cam if you want.

Well if your concerns are for the track only, TC first. But if it's all out fun and your not concerned with the last couple of 10th's, get the cam.
From wild to extra wild we got you covered with crap ya never knew you needed.

I think the converter would be alot more fun on the street from light to light. The "seat of the pants" feeling launching with a converter is fun.

The cam will make a difference for sure but nothing will beat the converter off the line or doing a burnout or short runs light to light. Both are great mods but for fun factor i would rate the conveter #1.

    Hmmmm....

    Cam recommends a Cam?

    Do I detect some bias?

Ask yourselves this: Would Cam's advice be the same if his name was Torque Converter?

    Hmmmm.......

You already have the Sidewinder so get the conveter and max out that set up before you move up to a bigger cam.
PPP has a sweet converter with extra beefing up inside

Aweseome feedback guys, I appreciate it. I was out of commision yesterday so couldn't get to my puter fast enough. I think the people have spoken and it sounds like the verter is the way to go. For some reason I figured you guys would say this, with the exception of our local hero CAM, I do believe he really meant verter

Again great feedback guys! Looks like it will be the ProTorque 2800 verter. But some of you already that know me by now that the cam mysteriously shows up in my signature around the same time
