My DIY Catch Can on a 5.7L Magnum

First of all, I have to thank SRT8Invasion for the catch can. Thanks bro!

I FINALLY got around to finding the parts for this install. At 84,000 miles.... my intake is already filthy, but why dump any MORE oil down there!

After reading all the catch can threads including this one:

    Catch Can Hose issues

I decided to install using some marine grade 1/2" fuel hose. Because it's so reinforced and thick.

I used Shields hose from West Marine:

    http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs...key=SiteSearch

Expensive, but I only needed 4 feet. Used some 1/2" threaded to 1/2" hose barb brass connectors, that go into a 90 degree elbow into the catch can.

This can is a little smaller than the BT one, but it's clear so I can see the oil building.

I'll call this 'Phase 1' cause I'm sure I'll find a better way to do this. And then I'll eventually probably wind up buying a BT catch can with the sweet colored hoses and clamps.

    Here's the hose:

    Here's the catch can installed:

Now off to collect some oil!

    Nice install.

I checked out SRT8Invasion's thread on his install and it appears this is not something we can buy. Is that the same one he was using?

    Any info would be appreciated.

It looks like 2012 will be very good indeed.
Unless the Mayans are right, then, well, never mind.

I'll wear this one out first, then get a pretty one. She gets driven REAL hard all week.

Same one, I'll see if he has any more info. But after looking at his thread:

    Custom Oil catch can

I'm wondering if I have it on backwards...more later.

its reall small, when oill fills up somthing that small it will be to strong of a suction and suck up the oil in the clear bowl. i used a larger water to air seperater and i noticed anything more than a few drops and it was just sucking it back in.
