Look at the crap in my throttle body and intake!!!!

I finally got around to pulling the throttle body and intake manifold off, and I found alot more oily residue than I anticipated. I'm halfway through cleaning everything up and wanted to share these pics. I'll be investing in a catch can very soon and looking into the possibilities of an EGR delete option.

Before I cleaned the throttle body.

After I cleaned the throttle body.

Looking intside the intake manifold and the EGR tube on the left.

    The EGR tube before cleaning.

Intake ports on the Mopar heads.

    After a little cleaning.

need a catch can and replace your PCV valve.............

Your making more crank case pressure and aren't bleeding it off good enough...............

The catch can will take the oil vapor and run it into a can..............the oil droplets fall out into the can and the vacumm continues the loop........

Its a cheap, easy, and age old trick.

PS...............Steve and I also cut that tube back so its not in the way of flow...................we cut it about 1/4" from the first bevel you come to. This ensures it still seals without impeeding flow.

Hmmm, that 1/4 inch of misfit/overlap on the lower portion of the intake looks very similar to what I had on the 6.1 head with plastic intake.

Why do you think the PCV is bad....it moves quite easily (definitely not stuck) when I removed it from the intake manifold.

Yea, I was wondering how much flow is 'slamming' into the intake ports on the Mopar heads. I plan on port matching a 6.1 intake when I can procure one.

    those look very 6.1 portish.

I am not mistaken in that the 5.7 is a skinny vertical port and the 6.1 is a more square port ?

Rob has the shapes correct...............the shapes can also be seen side by side in the FRI Production Works thread........

If the 2 ports were proper, you'd have huge fitment issues.............while these don't seem to match up well, they're still further away from 6.1 intake shape.

I would think a simple gasket match on the head would be smart..........stick with the 5.7 intake IMO.

I mention the PCV because I think the inner seal are weak and allow the oil vapor to pass..............

Ew Jon. Looks a lot better though, thats a great way to show how the air flow runs into a 'wall' and matching the intake would help.

    why?

Hey, guys, forgive the question from the uneducated (but mechanicaly minded)...

what causes this? I understand the concept of the catch can, but do the 5.7's do this stock or is it because of some mod you have made?
