    Let there be SOUND!

It's been 9 months since I've had my car, and I finally got around to making it sound like a muscle car. I chopped off the rear resonators.
I searched a long time for just the right exhaust tips, and finally put them on. They are a double wall, with chamfered edge - oh, and they are about 15" long.

I did all this in my garage. I really wanted to just take it to the exhaust shop, but they wanted about $120, beyond what the tips cost. And being such a perfectionist, I was afraid they wouldn't come out just right. But if I worked in a muffler shop, I'd starve - this project took me about 14 hours.
I am just nuts about how they came out, and the sound is absolutely intoxicating. Very muscular, but I've heard no drone at all. I've been on the freeway, with MDS on, and it's very civil when cruising. But put the foot down, and no one will be asking that famous question - Hey, that thing...?

That looks really good. I can't wait to hear it in person. My only question is about the picture below. It looks like the exhaust tip is rubbing against the cutout. Or, is that just an optical illusion?

Sweet! I have a similar setup on my car.....I had a cat back built, two magnaflow mufflers in place of the suitcase, all new tubing and a tip setup just like yours....Sounds great.

    Looks good, what's next?

Nope, the spacing came out great! I have exactly a pinky finger space on top of each pipe, and the side to side spacing is dead on symetrical to each other. Each pipe is maybe 1/8 inch towards the outside from center of cutout. I might adjust that with the hangers, but wanted to run it to make sure it was "settled".

I painted that black today, right after the exhaust was done. Should have painted it when I had the pipes OFF. Would have been easier. I used black textured paint for plastic, from Rustoleum.

Ah yes, that's the ONE full exhaust system that I like - because of the tips. What's next? Oh boy. Not sure. I need to get back to my valve cover project, I've been procrastinating . I honestly can't think of much else I want to do to the exterior, I'm very happy with how the car has turned out. I considered a nice simple thin pinstripe, but I'm not sure yet about that.

I didn't think you'd do that. Especially after mentioning how long you took to get it perfect. That picture is just deceiving.
