Exclamation Just another Mopar TCM thread... hehe

Just found something new. Don't ever, I mean ever do any tune update or make changes to the Diablo tranny settings within quick adjust. LOL! I know this is old news guys so I was only kidding.

Well just got my 3rd MTCM. Like if the first wasn't enough, i went out and got me a 2nd and after i fubar'd the 1st one keeping it plugged in and doing a tune update.

I got my 2nd one about a month ago, to the day, and i loved the hell out of it, until i started to get a little greedy. About 4 days ago, i wanted more out of the TCM and thought, hmmm let me see what happens if i only change the shift point to 6400 RPM's. That has got to be okay since i'm not installing a fresh tune. So i went for it. Soon as I did that and drove around, the car was a total different car... again. Not as bad as the 1st one since i only made the change to the shift point. It felt like it had most of the mtcm settings. the only difference was it was going higher in the RPM's before the verter locked. That there has to be the most annoying thing that made me get the mtcm in the 1st place. Even tried the adapative reset and still had the same symptom.

So there my friends, don't do a dam thing with that mtcm plugged in, unless it's known for sure it won't fubar your mtcm. I know some have stated that doing the gear ratio change is okay, but i wonder on that one now. Anywho, thanks to all my buds i pinged on this the last few days. All said don't do it, but for me it was a little too late lol!

Fortunately the dealership had one in the Dallas warehouse and got it to me same day yesterday. Installed it and trained it and, oh yes... back to business. So I can say i paid around $700 for my MTCM. Dam for that much, i should have just got the B&G TCM lol!

For those that think $1200 for the B&G TCM is outrageous... think again.

Yeah, but you'd be up to $3,600 then!

    Couple points....
You don't need to raise shift points on the MTCM - that is it's default.
You don't need to increase shift firmness - that is it's default.

Popping the 3 panels takes me about 18.64 seconds now...
Popping the modules and plugging back in the stock tcm, etc....adds a few minutes to retuning now....but that's about $200/minute in Rander time

Sorry for you luck. I actually have a new MTCM and am afraid to pull the trigger and install because I have the SRT rear and would need to quick adjust the ratio change.

LMAO!!!! Too funny. I sure hope that if B&G sells a $1200 TCM it also includes updates.

Not that I have a functional hot rod at the moment, but here are a couple of questions for future reference:

    1) Will a B&G type TCM have these same "no-tune" issues with the Predator?

    2) If so, can you just unplug the new TCM and load the tune, or does the Predator require the old TCM to be plugged in to load a new tune?

    3) Is it possible to mount both TCM's and rig up an "A/B" switch of some type, or is the wiring too complex?

    1) I had no issues as There were several changes made via predator to my fan settings and such while I had the B&G TCM in.

    2. No it does not I removed and reinserted my old TCM. During the intial install of the B&G TCM yes it does need to be flashed with the Starscan.

    3) I had the stock TCM tiewrapped around the B&G so that I could unplug it from one and plugged into the other. Not sure about doing a A/B switch.

I currently have the stock one right now as the B&G is getting updated and "refined"

Hope those were somewhat of an answer Lou

Whoops I sort of \kinda did that hijack thing ! Sorry !

Juan - No worries on the axle ratio.

When I program my tunes, the stocker goes in. I program it with raised shift, firmer shifts and all teh bells a whisles I want.

All done, plug in the Mopar and go have fun. If I change anything in the tune, the stocker goes back in.

Thanks Rob. I'm feeling better about using it now but let me make sure of one item as you mention shift points which are also a quick adjust item. I had all of that programmed including the rear ratio prior to popping in the Mopar TCM. When I put in the MTCM the mag went into limp mode due to not recognizing the rear swap (which btw, thanks as you figured it out). If I put it back in and just quick adjust the rear swap all should be kosher(in theory of course)? I'm just worried what if anything else will come over to the TCM with the quick adjust.

Sorry for the thread jack rander but I figured it was somewhat relevant.

^^^ not a problem amigo. It's all good. BTW, there is no way in hell you are making me change my gear ratio to something else then back to stock on my new mtcm.
