About LinkBacksThinking about taking my intake off and doing some internal polishing of the rough spots. The manifold looks to be in two pieces. Does it use a gasket ...what type and is it reuseable.
Are the gaskets between intake and heads reuseable?
Who's got the best deal for doing the porting if I send it out to get done?

Intake is one piece....yes reusable cnc'd rubber gasket.
6.1 or 5.7?**No Longer an LX Owner - just a crazy lurker with sign on priveleges

Sorry....yeah it is a 6.1 and it appears to have a bottom plate that bolts up to it. Wondering about how it is sealed to the rest of the manifold.

Bottom piece comes off by loosening numerous hex head bolts. There is a metal gasket in between.

If you are carefull that you do not bend the metal gasket, some spray coppercoat applied to both sides will allow you to reuse it.
Spray coppercoat is much better in this case than silicone.
Make sure you torque the bolts evenly.
Use some blue loctite & a 1/4" drive ratchet.
That will prevent over torqueing if you do not have a torque wrench calibrated in inch pounds.Last edited by PowerWagon896; 10-03-2008 at 04:20 PM.
