If ur modded install a catch can!!!

Noticed since installing heads/cam... my oil consumption has been around 1/2 quart-1 quart every oil change. Got under my car and noticed it was leaking a tiny bit out the exhaust flange of my LTubes. Figured it was the crappy PCV system like the LS1's were notorious for and sure enough after talking to Steve from Frank Racing.. he helped install a catchcan in my ride. Basically the high suction now after all my mods is too much for the stock crappy system. I have helped on a coulple of heads and cam installs and have noticed that STOCK they had oil in the intake and heads. I have had catchcan in for around 100 or so miles and have caught about a TABLESPOON of oil in it. I used a temporary catch can untill i order an aluminum one sometime this week. I used a Husky air compressor oil seperator and installed it inbetween the PCV outlet and the intake outlet. Works like a charm. Inferal also installed one this week and he's got a pic of the can in a PCV thread. My advice to everyone who has mods and hell even stock rides is to install a catchcan to avoid oil entering intake and exhaust. This will also prevent detonation from occuring from oil being ingested into the intake. My ride has now stopped leaking out the exhaust flange. Guess after 6000 miles on the new heads and cam it had started to collect near the flange.

Good luck boys!! And keep on modding!!

I've never seen any indication of oil at all in my hose from the pcv to the AirHammer. Is that not the norm?

The hose that is attactched to where the oil is put in your car and that runs to the CAI is left alone. No catchcan is installed there. This is needed to be left alone so it can suck into the system. The catchcan is installed on the other side/pass. side. Thats where the oil is being sucked in by the intake from the PCV valve. No oil would be really seen in the hose to the CAI.

Not the hose on the Air Hammer, the one between the PCV and the port on top of the manifold and behind the throttle body. PCV is written on the hose. There is oil in all of them. More on modded cars. That's what is making your throttle plate black on the inside. I've installed a catch can I got from Elite Engineering (eliteengineering.com) like Sgt Stanko did on SRT8oc.com. Works good. Already seeing a small amount of oil in the can after a week.

If they are it's probably the PCV system or the lack of it!!

Not only on modded cars. The 6.1s probably all have this. Some folks are woking on it at the OC.

So is this just a Hemi thing or is the 3.5 having the same problem? I read where one guy had to have the TB and intake cleaned.
