How about This Billy Boat Cat-Back Option?

OK, in case you haven't seen it, I am currently in a dilema as far as cat-back options.

You can read all about it here if you haven't already seen it. http://www.lxforums.com/board/showth...=1#post1805456

Well, I do have another option.

I have studied the layout of the B&B catback.

I am an experienced pipefitter & have access to a top notch welder that has a TIG set-up in his garage.

The B&B is a 3" system & has a factory slip joint in front of the resos just about where one cuts a stock catback for Blastin' Bob's (3") Fat Pipes.

These are a bullet, glass pack resonator.

What do ya think about adapting the Blastin' Bob's resonator for a no alteration (to the B&B cat back) experiment to perhaps wake up the exhaust note of the B&B under hard accelleration.

Has anyone experimanted W/different resos on a B&B system?

If the sound has too much drone @ cruise, I can just switch back to the B&B resos so nothing lost there.

The question is, will that mod make a big difference in the volume/pitch @ WOT?

Can I get my "Jekyl & Hyde" effect & still pocket $400 savings over buying a new Corsa cat-back over the like new used B&B?

Can I get the best of both worlds, a rumbling old scool sound @ idle W/O drone @ cruise & moderate acceleration W/a howling banshie scream when I stand on it?

If I were buying new, I would go W/the Corsa, but the $400 I can save getting the used B&B will cover most of the cost of the few remaining HP mods I want to do.

Does it sound like it's worth a shot?

I've been thinking about doing the same thing with my B&B cat-back just take the reso off, if i don't like it, put them back on! let me know if you try it and how it works out for you. If you purchase the B&B that is.

    I purchased it today!

I have both Blastin' Bob's "Fat Pipes" kits, non resonated & resonated.

I will try to get sound clips of all 3 options.

I really wanted the Corsa, but I know wifey will LOVE the Billy Boat & there won't be a bit of difference in performance or you know I would pony up the extra $$$$.

Besides, that $400 will help pay for a few mods that will get me closer to roll cage territory.

    & yes, I am a cheapskate.

    Oh it'll work.

There is a slip joint on the B&B just about where the Blastin' Bob's hook up.

I will either have to cut off the Blastin Bob's or weld an extension on them to work.

Being a journeyman pipefitter helps take some of the suspense out of it.

What would be cool would be a quick/easy removable connection so I could change out @ the track.

A real Jekyl & Hyde mod. Nice quiet 7 hour cruise to E'Town, then put the non resonated Blastin' Bob's on her & let her scream.

    That's a bit ambitious though.
