Heavily modded AWD launch - still slight hesitation? - New Tune? ProTorque?

My mods listed below - First let me say I am extremely happy with my car after the installs last month, the power seems endless throughout the powerband. Promotion has tweaked my tune (email style) after the install, I have ran some additional 0-60 runs on my Vector perf. timer and I am seeing consistent high 4 sec times, the best at 4.7 seconds. I have made sure the vector is setup exactly for the specs of my Mag, I am quite sure these times are very acurrate, I think much more so than the EVIC on our cars.

Anyway, my best 0-30 is 1.7 seconds with the 4.7 run. When I jump on the gas, I always get a bit of a hesitation before all hell breaks loose and the car takes off. I have tried to launch in 1st, drive, a little brake torque, no brake torque, you get the point - Always a little hesitation. It may be normal and the best I get, but when I compare my times to other new AWD cars that run in the 4.7 second 0-60 range (such as the new Impreza WRX STI), my 0-30 times seem about .4 seconds too slow. That is why I think the hesitation is hurting me a bit. Any thoughts? I was thinking a protorque TC, but last months mods and install took a dent out of the wallet, not sure I want to spend another $1k.

Also, I am going to the Dyno next Friday. Not sure if the shop can tune my car, but at least I will have my Dyno results on file. If I post my Dyno results, can someone on the forum help me understand if my Tune is maximized for my mods? B&G is 10 miles from my home (did not know this until two weeks ago). He does not have a dyno, but will have my dyno file and my car at his shop. Would it be worth the money to have it tune it in person over my Promotion email tune? Any advice would be appreciated.

Yea, forgot to add that, I have the no-esp mod - I have tried turning that off and turning the ESP off on the Diablo.

The hesitation may be in the seat of the beholder. You need to get on the track and see what your times really are in comparison to the other modded AWD's. Then you will know.

i think what he might be seeing is what i am seeing.. when i run my truck in 4wd at the track it goes like crazy for a second then after it gets a load on it after all 4 stop chirping then it does it.. i bet its all in the tune and a good cmr tune on a dyno is the only way to go when wanting to get the most out of it..

Your Ram will spin all 4 tires? Holy shiat, mine will spin the rear 20's for about 10' and my 60' times are 2.3. 6,000 lb truck is like launching a battleship. Sorry to threadjack, just had a mental picture of a 4x4 Ram burning all 4 tires and not having a Cummins.

I stall it up as hard as I can against the converter (2400 rpm) and then just lift of the brakes. I get a slight "hesitation" / "bog" / "dead spot" as the rpms come off the stall speed but this is normal in my experience. This is just how the converter works as the wheels get moving the torque multiplication drops off fast so it effectively it's just like the converter is shifting gears. I've always noticed this phenomenon on turbo 350's, 400's, 700-R4's, ford AOD's and really bad with power glide cars.

A higher stall would help, but I would wait untill you actually get some tunig done as there is some things a good tuner can do to help get the car out of the hole.

I get the best 60 ft times with a stall to just 1200 rpm. Higher or lower, I get worse times.

my truck will bark the right front some of the time, caltracs help it though.

since the front is an open diff it'll only spin one. (3 tires at a time)

It is normal, I think you have to be making just a LITTLE bit more power.... I know in my 2001 Audi A4, when I launch at around 5,500 and drop the clutch, I will roast all four tires for a good three feet, then it will bog a little and then take off again, it is just you getting more traction... At least in my case...
