    PR&D 383 Dyno #1

    Just got back from the dyno. Here are the results:





    395 RWHP @ 5900 RPM
    435 RWTQ @ 4500 RPM

    If you notice after 5900 rpm I went real rich, down into the 11s and HP started to drop off. Thats due to my tune which is a quick fix. I'm sure if A/F would have stayed consistant above 5900 rpm, HP would have kept going up and broke thru 400.

    It has something funny going on, it actually looses power from 4500 to 5100 RPM. Theres some funny torque managment thing going on there.

    Right now I'm running 2.5" exhaust into a 3" Y which may also be a restriction. Might have to go up to a bigger diameter exhaust.

    The cam in the stroker is a mild for the cubes at 218-222 @ 112 lsa so a bigger cam will also help.

    All in all, I feel that I have a great platform for building some great HP and TQ. With some tweaking here and there, 11s are a great possiblity now.

    The torque number throug the truck drivelike tells it all. The truck has about 25% drive line loss. I was curious if the 04 would do the same stuff on the dyno as the 03 does with a built engine and it looks like the answer is yes. So the HP is being reduced significantly by either the reminants of the speed limiter or some type of torque managment. Since the peak HP is 5900 It looks like the cam is working. If you go out and run 12.2 to 11.9 with it then we'll know it's making more like 450HP at the wheels and the dyno dip thing is robbing you. Still in a Car driveline at 17% loss it would be 438HP/ 481 TQ which is pretty strong for a 383. And with only a piggyback to tune I think it works. The dyno won't show the inertial effects of the light assy and crank either.

    I bet you stand a good chance of being the first 11's NA truck if you can hook it up.
