Flowmaster Catback w/ Blastin Bobs

Anyone else out there try the combo of the Flowmaster catback but replaced the Flowmaster resonators w/ BB resonators? The Flowmasters sound great w/ idle revs and at WOT but are too quiet for me for just cruising. They have just a small amount of highway MDS drone but it's very minimal. I would trade a tad more MDS drone for a more aggressive cruising sound and am thinking of swapping the Flowmaster catback resos w/ BB's.

As I understand, there's a 2, 4 & 6 dB option from BB's. It looks like they're all 2.5" diameter which is the same diameter as the Flowmaster catback. I'm not sure how much modification would have to be done to get the BB's to fit the Flowmaster but figured someone here must've tried this. Anyone??

I don't know of anyone who has put my stuff on a flowmaster kit. The stock 5.7 size is 2.25 as are all the inlets on my 5.7 kits, just the tubing sizes are different.
That little resonator is a 2 pass muffler, quite different from the chambered center muffler. I have some ideas on how to make it louder, p.m. me and we can talk about it.

Oh - didn't realize your reso's had 2.25" inlets - that won't work. PMed ya...

The sound is a touch loder than I would like, but there is way less drone than doing no resos and more sound that the flowmasters with stock resos.

I know this for a fact, because I have tried it all those ways LOL

Now for me, I want to try the magnaflow mufflers and the same set up with blastin bobs reso deletes, and tips.

The set up looks awesome. and I am almost 100% where I want it to be.

AAAAANNNNDD??!?!? Whadya think of it? How's the sound? How much MDS drone do you have? What else have you had to compare it with?

The Flowmaster catback I have includes Super 40 mufflers and resos. It looks like you have a different muffler and then what BB resos do you have? It's not clear in your picture.

I think I saw your setup in another thread somewhere. Which BB reso do you have? The thing I'm really trying to avoid is obnoxious MDS drone, which you won't be able to gauge on your 6.1. I was running Kooks headers w/ just the stock resos (brylcreem catback) and the MDS drone was so bad I was going batty...

I hated the MDS drone on my last 300 C 5.7.

UGH...

These mufflers (50 series) are supposed to droan less, I am not seeing that yet... It seams there is no HAPPY medium to the droan. Its either there or not. In my opnion its less RPM now. It used to be 2500 rpm droan with no resos, now its at 1500 rpm instead. BUT at least its not there when maintaining the speed.

Here's what Bob had to say (hopefully he doesn't mind...);

"The tubing is 2.25" inlets. I have 3 resonators that I use on the kits. One 2.5" magnaflow, that will make it quieter then it is now. A 2.25" & 2.5" core glasspacks. I would suggest a 2.5" core glasspack. It would be a cut and weld job, you should be able to get them locally or I can send you a pair...
You should be able to re-use the tips that are on there."


"I think you will be right there, may or may not resonate. I have done 50's with stock 2.25" and my 5 db no resonator kit, which 2.25 also. No drone what so ever with that set up. Your tubing a little larger and 40's are a good amount louder, so the glasspack "should" offset that."
