    Exhaust Tips

I got fm 40's right now with straight cut tips. I'm going to redo the tips and go with angle-cut tips. I was wondering before I buy, will double-wall tips change the sound of the exhaust? The ones I have now are single-wall non-resonated and I love the sound. I found some double-wall tips a lil' bit cheaper, I was just wondering about the sound.

It will hardly be noticeable... If anything though, it will change the sound for the better...

I was told by the guy that did my exhaust that the tips is what makes the sound. I guess he ment diameter/length makes a difference. Smaller diameter, higher pitch etc.

I have to agree and disagree at the same time here... A muffler makes the true sound of a system and the tips only help it slightly... I did a back to back comparrison once with my 97 VR6 Passat... I put a single turbo muffler on it from the catback with no tips... I tried out three different tips just to see what they looked like and ever tip that I put on sounded the same... Dual, single, resonated... All the same... All it did was add a little smoothness to the sound...

I didn't notice any difference in sound when I went from single wall 3" tips to double wall 4" tips.
