How are glasspacks not good for flow, they're 100% straight-through flow? Dude that said that is confused. Are you replacing your suitcase or your resonators? I heard a car w/ no suitcase and cherrybombs in place of the resonators... that thing was f'ing obnoxious loud. I'd hate to drive it any distance though... be careful, when you say you want it to be a 7/10, i hope you mean inside the car as well.

i honsestly dont know what the Muffler man was planning on doing over at allied muffler.. i dont want it to be loud in the cabin.. i want most of the sound obviously on the outside.. i wanted to enhance the stock sound of the motor, or maybe its easier to explain this way.. i want it to be mild when cruzing the streets, but getting attention when i am WOT

IMO the best all around mufflers are baffled and not filled with anything like fiberglass or steelwool.

That said, the noise or growl of the engine at the tail pipe is a function of the lope of the cam, the idle RPM, the resonator (helps illiminate drone) and the muffler. The growl is also influenced to some degree by the tune.

Now, there's growl at idle, partial throttle, and WOT. Under all these conditions, the best muffler is still baffled. If there's anything in the muffler (fiberglass, steelwool) the exhaust flow will be inhibited to some degree at higher RPMs as well as WOT.

RichieRevs, that info helps SO much.. now as far as getting a baffled muffler do i need to pair that up with lets just say, a magnaflow suitcase? or should i keep the stock suitcase, and get the baffled mufflers at the rear end?

There's a difference between the growl sound you're looking for and the sub-sonic drone that most dislike, especially on long trips.

That said, it sounds like you want everyone behind you to feel the growl and some sub-sonic drone, but not if you're riding in the cabin (especially for passengers in the back seat).

The factory suitcase resonators will work. However, if you want a beefier sound out the tail pipe and a stronger sound in the cabin then check out the magnaflows. BTW, the resonators that I personally like are not suitcases but tubular (again to flow better at partial throttle and WOT). You also want to make sure that your X-pipe is functional. The X-pipe is located just before the resonators.

    I hope that helps.

IMO muffler shops aren't very good, except for the stuff they can take off the shelf and install.

Before piecemealing something together, get some info on cat-back systems like the one from magnaflow which is stainless steel. Cat-back systems are engineered so the parts work together to produce a specific growl effect.

The magnaflow I mentioned has a single tubular resonator that also functions as an X-pipe. It's reasonably priced (under $1000) and any number of forum vendors can get it for you. Any muffler shop can have it installed.

I personally like the Corsa cat-back (lifetime warranty for original owner), but it's pricey (you pay for the warranty).

Oh, and sorry, I don't own a muffler shop.

Oh man I'm glad I saw this. My brother has a set of Flowmaster Super 44 resos he is looking to sell. IMO there isnt an exhaust out there that sounds better! Sounds nice and mean at WOT and while coasting or down shifting you get that growling/gurgling sound.

If i didnt already spend an embarassing amount of money on my Borla cat back I would be going with the Super 44s myself.

^^Agree. Zoomers and Flowmaster are good alternatives to Magnaflow.

You really should consider a cat-back exhaust that was engineered for your car... You'll be better off in the long run for sure without the trial and error you may go through trying to cut and paste things together like Glasspacks... Many have chimed in Zoomers and I can tell you many of them have gone down that road you're concidering trying different mufflers to get that perfect sound . The major complaints are usually drone in the cabin or it's not the sound they had hoped for. Save your Money and go with a cat back like ours proven here at the LX forums to be one of the top exhausts for your 5.7... On sale right now 25% off only $861.75...

Is there an exhaust for the 6.1 charger (2006) (assuming yes) and can I get that one for the same price?

    Thanks in advance...
