    Electric Water Pumps

    Anyone have any experience running an electric water pump on a street car?

    What was your experience?

    GM cars use them all the time.I think I would run it if it were proven.

    I've never heard of reliability problems w/ an electric water pump, but there's already a large electrical load in the car... I wouldn't want to take a hit on my voltage and sacrifice fuel pump performance to gain 1 or 2 hp from losing the water pump. I'm using half lf my 400W amp right now, and even that is enough to dim the headlights... I have to believe that a water pump draws at least 10A, which is 120W, which is more than half of what I'm dimming lights with...

    I ran a meziere electric water pump on my monte carlo for about 15k miles with no issues, about the only complaint was in very warm temps at idle the car would run 10-20* hotter than the mechanical one did.


    1/4 mile: 12.32 @ 111.12 MPH on a 1.72 sixty foot

    Need to turn off some of that auxillary lighting and turn down the stereo
