    eibach springs vrs srt springs

hi guys quick question for you guys im swaping out my stock r/t suspension for the srt suspension but instead of using the srt springs im gonna use a set of eibach springs i bought.if i remember right i was told the srt suspension will drop the car .5 inchs and according to eibach there springs will drop the car 1.5 inchs .the part im scratching my head is that the eibach springs look longer and have more coils in them example the rear stock have 7 wraps and eibach has 9.the front had 9 stock 11 eibach.which set would be better to use.

Vincent, the Eibachs are a progressive rate spring, that's why there are more winds on the coils. I wouldn't recommend putting the Eibach springs on the SRT struts/ shocks because you will kill them in a few months. The car will be sitting in a position beyong the normal operating lengths of the SRT pieces.

On springs, if all factors are the same, but one has more coils, it will have a lower spring rate (not as stiff). A coil spring is actually a torsion bar that is coiled up.

For example; if you have a 1/2in. diameter rod that is 3in. long and then try to twist it with one end in a bench vise and a pipe wrench on the other end, you will not be able to see any twist. Now, if that 1/2in. rod is 10feet long, you should be able to see it twist.

    I think.

I smile because i have no idea whats going on.

interesting any suggestions on shocks and struts? WELL interesting now that you mention it ,that does make sense as with the extra inch travel would throw off the srt shocks ? well then i guess it begs the question is the extra 700 i would have to spend to get the rest of the kit worth the difference in the 2 suspensions.basicly is the eibach setup that much better then the srt setup .the extra 1 inch realy doesnt bother me that much im good with the 1/2 inch that the srt suspension gives me plus driving in the city with all the holes and ditches the extra inch might come in handy ? did i sorta just answer my own question? i guess im intersted in hearing from someone that has swaped out the srt for the eibach and get some feedback on it?
