There was a thread on this subject that is a little long and old so I thought I would start a new one. In the old thread, Diablo solved the tune write problems of the early build LX's with 8r16c version (before August 2004) Once we were able to write a tune to the PCM then another problem was revealed. If your early version TCM was not updated, you had no access to the TCM goodies like shift firmness, speed limiter etc. Diablo was not able or not willing to provide a solution to the problem other than telling people to go to their dealer to get an update, leaving some of us at the mercy of our available dealers.
Mr. iNCREDIBLE, being of a kind and generous nature, and having access to TCM's and a Starscan volunteered to send updated TCM's to needy early builders for the cost of the TCM plus postage.
I now have my updated TCM switched with the old one. It was not difficult, I took me about 30 minutes but would be much quicker with a #20 Torx stubby screw driver.
Hallelujah, I now have access to the TCM settings. I haven't raised the shift points yet but I love the increased shift firmness and the decreased torque management. I will report after further experience with my new found options. Its hard to find good days to play with it in January. Once again, a big thanks to Mr. iNCREDIBLE.
