DiabloSport Predator Update (7/31)

We've been getting alot of calls asking about the new programmer this morning. I just got off the phone with DiabloSport. They are VERY close but the release probably won't happen today. It's rare that a new product is released on the exact date that is projected. Hang on tight cause we're almost there!

I'm glad we listed the release date as - "Available - Around 07-31-07

I hope to have more news by the end of the day. The person that I spoke to said that they have a bunch of people working on this now and that the release should be very soon. I'm going to check back with them towards the end of the day.

First I have to say... please don't shoot the messenger! I'm going to toss the keyboard then run/hide for a little while just in case

Bad news is this programmer might not be released until the end of August (hey, I just heard you sigh!). This is supposed to be the worst case. But... there is a good chance that it will be ready to go in 1-2 weeks. They don't have any problems with the tuning. Let me repeat that, DiabloSport does not have any problems with their tuning. They just want to spend some more time testing it before it's releases to the public. Much better to be safe than sorry. Their dyno numbers have shown really nice gains so like they say, good things come to those whole wait.

We might have a list of parameters and vehicles that will be supported soon. For people that haven't ordered yet, you can continue to do that on our website or by giving us a call at 1-877-482-9763. Nobody will be charged until the programmer is ready to ship!

If they're unsure of the product, then I think they're doing the right thing, no question. Look at all the recalled Xbox 360's, the earliest iPods, and the hundreds of other "big releases" that were puked out to the public on time at the expense of quality. A couple weeks now may mean less bugs later. I can't blame them for checking an extra build date or software revision or something. This is a sign that they're doing it right, IMHO. I hope I'm not misplacing my faith :-) As for you guys that sold the Superchips, think of this as a blessing. If you switched immediately from one to the next, it might be hard to tell some of the subtle differences between the two. Now go drive your car on the stock tune for a month instead. When the Predator hits your doorstep you'll think it's worth its weight in gold :-D

I don't buy it. Diablo is not showing all their cards here. Pushing back release a month does not sound like a logistical issue. I don't see a 1 or 2 week release, generally vendors don't overstate delays....just stirring the pot a bit...

That said the dull murmur of folks not too happy with the delay is far better than releasing a beta product that is buggy and risking an uproar.

I was actually going to very surprized if they started shipping today. It would have been nice but it's better to hold off to make sure everything is good to go. This way we don't have a bunch of calls from people that have a problem

Speaking of calls, I have someone working through all of our Predator orders today and tomorrow. She'll be providing everyone that ordered from us with an update. Everyone doesn't go online daily so this way they aren't left hanging.
