You can pick up an octane booster to add to your gas from any automotive store. That will get you the octane you need. Most of those octane additives say how much to add to how many gallons to get your gas to the desired octane.

I would run 91 octane with the 91 tune. You dont want to keep adding octane booster to your ride.

As long as your octane is not low enough to cause pre-ignition, your good to go. Adding a booster to achieve 93 octane is no worse/different than running pump bought 93 octane fuel.

Reality is as long as you have no pre-ignition you won't damage anything regardless of how you get there.

How are you guarantying that you will get 93 octane by pouring in a bottle of octane booster? I see them on the shelf ALL the time, 103 108 octane booster, if you put that in your car, do you really think your running 103 or 108 octane??

If your in a jam, and can only find 87 octane and you have a 93 tune in your car, sure, a bottle of octane booster will help you out, but to run a bottle of booster just to run it, I would stick to a 91 tune.

Keep the RPM's up as the damage is caused when the motor is under load

Mr 5.7 is looking for a month long fix, an octane booster will do the trick. Fact. Quit being argumentative and read the entire post.

For example, no one has guaranteed anything, especially what the final octane rating might be. A bottle of booster will easily get the fuel above 93 from 91 octane. There's no risk here from running a 93 tune with 93+ octane for a short term. As long as you have no pre-ignition, giv'er.

Umm who is arguing? If you think a bottle of octane booster is the fix, by all means have it at. Like I said, if your stuck, your stuck, but I wouldnt do it on the norm.

The car will pull timing as needed (knock retard) up to a point. As long as you're under that max you don't need to worry about it. ...haha, I guess you might need your predator to log though . I seriously doubt you're going to max out on knr running the 93 tune on 91 gas.

I'm assuming you have a 5.7L. Max knock retard pulled (different for different RPM ranges) is:

    Stock 5.7L
RPM - max deg pulled (ST and LT combined)
    6000 - 5*
    5200 - 7*
    4800 - 9*
    4000 - 10*
    3600 - 10*
    3000 - 12*
    2000 - 12*
    1200 - 15*
    600 - 15*

Why not just use the 91 CAI Tune?

Easy answer is to not beat on it. Stay out of WOT situations.

Octane booster is not going to help, save the $$$.
