    Borla vs. Flowmaster vs etc.

Looking for a good cat back system, with a nice rumble at idle to let other cars know its a HEMI . Also looking for a good HP gain. Doesn't have to be the best of the best or the most expensive since my engine is mostly stock. I have heard a borla cat back but it was on a highly modified Jeep SRT8 and I personally have used the flowmasters on a past mustang.

Lets hear some of your thoughts

85 mm Throttle Body, CAI, DMH Low Profile Cutouts, Mopar catback exhaust, Diablo Trinity - Tuned by Jerseyboy, Smoked Corner Lenses, Hotchkis Front Sway Bar, 180 Thermastat, Smoked LED Tail Lights, HID Low Beams, HID fogs, Innovate AFR Gauge, Halos, Custom Badges
    More on the way soon......

I am a firm believer in Flowmaster. I installed the Flowmaster cat-back on my Magnum R/T, and I love it. Has a nice mellow rumble at low speeds, but barks pretty good under power. I got mine from Performance Peddler for cheap.

I replaced the suitcase with 2 Flowmaster 40's , put 2 small glasspacks in the rear where the resonators where.

    Great sound with no drone.

Click on photos for sound clips.

I got the stainless steel JBA catback with x-pipe and 3-1/2 chrome tips for under $600 shipped from Maryland speed and I love them. I always get people asking me what exhaust I have.

I started out with Flowmasters, thought they were pretty crude sounding and then switched to the Borla with the 112 mm tips and resonators, that sounded very nice, almost like a European car, then finally did the Borla system with no resonators and 125 howitzer tips. Pretty incredible to me, lots of comments, unfortunately have been pulled over by the police a few times, but no ticket, yet! I think the long tube headers and gutted cats really give it an old school muscle car sound. I parked at a car show and a Ford GT parked beside me, people came over to me and said my car sounded fantastic, better than the Ford GT , I had to agree!

Not sure how it is where you live, but in my area everyone that has an aftermarket exhaust has flowmasters, be it a charger, mustang, or camaro. To me they sound like they belong on a pick up. I have the borla 125's and get compliments regularly. Not a pseudo-euro sound like corsa and not as crude as flows, just a tuned muscular sound.

I was under the impression that both JBA and flowmasters you have drone. Personally i love my Zoomers and while i got them on a 25% off sale they are still pricey
But they look great and have a nice rumble
Surprised nobody has said SLP which seem to be popular

In the 80's, I had Dodge W150 with a BDS supercharged 440. For carburetion, I used a pair of Predator variable venturi carburetors. The truck was originally fired up and driven with stainless Sonic Turbo mufflers. The 440 destroyed them pretty quickly, and I replaced them with a custom built pair of stainless steel Flowmaster mufflers. After installing them, the engine flat would not run until I richened the Predator's up; the flow through the exhaust changed that much. Ever since then, I've been a sworn Flowmaster customer. I also, personally, like the tone of the Flowmaster's. I do have the resonator system on my Maggie, though.

Bought from a member and just finished installing the mopar system. All info i found on it points that borla designed and made it but stamped mopar on it. Sounds good but in the future i want it louder. Thanks for all the replys. Think i stay with this for a starter system and save for true borla adjustable cat back kooks LT headers and cut outs
