Borla exhaust for $659!!! Magnaflow for $600!!!

I don't want to sound like a shill or anything but i thought these insane prices would be best represented in their own thread instead of buried in the back of the "magnaflow released" thread.

    highhorseperformance.com

Haven't bought anything FROM them since they just started their business in January so who know how their customer service is but damn.....them's be crazy prices.

Let's at least link to the thread.

As for customer service, I've never had both timely and comprehensive replies like Joshua has given up to this point. I'm ready to pull the trigger.

oh yeah people should definately CHECK out the thread if they haven't, the response that joshua gave comparing the borla with magnaflow was nice

I can't buy mine till mid Dec and with price no longer being an issue (assuming the borla stays at that price till then...i emailed them asking how long it would be 659) it'll all come down to how the two sound (ample sound clips FROM people that have either system would be nice).

i'll definately be buying FROM these guys though...i emailed him too and he gave a quick response.

Which system are you going with bob? I still haven't heard what the borla system sounds like and would like to hear it's "unique" sound.

    Looks like Magnaflow.

If I think it's not right for me , I'll try to sell it to someone in Phoenix for a modest discount.

Anyone interested? I'll know how things go in a week or so.

I wrote to Joshua about the new Magnaflow for the Magnum, and whether it would fit
on the 300C as well, as they don't mention the 300C in their write up for the Magnaflow.

I can absolutely agree that these guys at HighHorse are very nice people, and they have
answered all my questions very fast, they are very friendly, and they do have some
    of the best prices around.

Here is what Joshua wrote to me about the Magnaflow fitting the 300C:

    James,
I just returned FROM the dealerships and FROM what my business partner and I can see, both the Magnum and the 300C are the same car with just different skins. We looked at both a 2WD Magnum and a 2WD 300C and measured all of the key points and distances and compared to two and everything matched up exactly except for a measurement of tip to tip which was off by less than half an inch which could be due to the installation of the exhaust on one of the cars being slightly off FROM the factory. Other than that, the two exhaust systems lined up perfectly, had the same dimensions and spacing, kept the same clearance/depth FROM the hanging points (from what we could measure and see) and FROM what we could determine the hanging points were all in the same locations, too. The undercarriage of each car looks identical and the size and shape of the factory mufflers and their associated areas all appear to be of the same size. The rear suspensions are the same between both. We thought !
there might be a difference in the beginning since we would have thought that the Magnum would have had a more sturdy suspension but it doesn't. They use the same rear suspension so that's not a factor. Both factory systems appear to be exactly the same and we cannot see any reason that the Magnaflow system for the V8 Magnum won't fit the 300C. But like I said in my earlier email, putting this exhaust system on the 300C should work just fine but there's always a small chance that it could bring up other factors unrelated to the fit of the exhaust, like a sound quality issue in the cabin since there are changes to the car's body. We can only speculate that everything will go smoothly but we can't fully determine what the outcome would be without first testing this system.

And of course with any email along these lines, we must disclaim some, too.
So our determination is that there should be no differences that we've been able to detect between the Magnum and the 300C when it comes to installing the Magnaflow cat-back. Due to the liabilities involved, we, being High Horse Performance, Inc., do not and cannot recommend putting this exhaust on the 300C to any one since it is not the intended vehicle and Magnaflow, as the products manufacturer, has not recommended so or said that it will fit. If someone wanted to put this system on their car, all responsibilities on our part are waived.

    I hope that helps,
    Joshua, HHP Sales
    www.HighHorsePerformance.com

These guys are going to get my business once my car arrives! I especially liked how
Joshua compared the sound of the two exhausts. Magnaflow being like the rumble
of an american V8, and the Borla being like a fine European V8. That is just about
the best description you can get.

Yep, I have to agree with you Jim.

Unless I can find a local shop that will beat their price on the Borla system (very unlikely), I will definitely be buying FROM them as soon as I figure out when I can afford to pull the trigger.

This sort of behaviour in an online business needs to be supported whenever possible!

yeah i've heard those but i want more....especially clips FROM inside the car since that's when i'll be listening to the exhaust to most. Clips like magnumfreak did were he was just driving around so you could hear it FROM a standstill at WOT and then at cruising speeds....those were cool.

    Reply FROM Magnaflow:

Bob – Thanks for your contact. Borla’s system will be similar to ours in terms of performance, since they are both straight-through. The main difference is the packing material inside the mufflers. Borla uses fiberglass, which will absorb moisture, blow out, and get louder over time. We use a ceramic rockwool material that will not do this. It instead maintains a deeper, bassier, more muscular sound. You do need to expect increased interior resonance with any performance system, but our engineers don’t design them to be overwhelming – we actually make one of the quieter systems on the market. CHECK out our sound clip on the website. This system uses a mid-mounted x-core muffler, which is used to tone down resonance, in addition to the 2 rear-mounted mufflers. Thanks for your interest in Magnaflow.

    Danny Christian

By the way, Borla has not replied to either of my 2 e-mails. They can't all be at SEMA...can they?
(Waiting patiently for the 2011/12 300C SRT 8)

Hmmmm....so magnaflow uses better interior materials but Borla uses better grade stainless steel? Interesting.

Yeah I emailed borla the two days ago to ask them why they didn't have the magnum system on their website and they still haven't replied.
