    Billy Boat or Corsa?

Well, since I am about done dumping $$$$$ into HP mods, I have decided to invest in making the "Mango Express" a bit more civilized.

Although my modified SRT suitcase W/Blastin Bob's resonated kit breathes well enough to make plenty of HP, it is a bit obnoxious when I have to pull grades @ hi-way speeds.

Funny thing is, it sounds fine to me in MDS mode, a low pitched purr. It is when I have to go to 25% or more throttle & pull in 8 cylinder mode @ less than 2200 RPM that the interior sound levels get a bit too loud.

The Billy Boat system seems to be the most civilized, hands down, but it seems to be a bit too tame @ WOT.

I want Jekyl & Hyde here. A quiet, civilized daily driver/touring car that pleases Wifey, that turns into a screaming monster when Dad get those right foot spasms.

The SRT8 Corsa exterior sound clips I have heard have the WOT sound I am after. I could not find any SRT8 Corsa interior sound clips.

The Billy Boat sytem is identicle for the 5.7 & 6.1 except for the inlet size. I will probably go W/the 6.1 Corsa system & expand the cat pipes as MDS "Purr" does not bother me in the least.

So here are my questions for you Billy Boat/Corsa owners.
    1. BILLY BOAT OWNERS: Does your cat-back system make enough of an aggressive sound when you stand on it?
    2. 6.1 CORSA OWNERS: Is your cat-back quiet under cruising & more importantly, under light pulling applications such as pulling a long steep grade @ 30% - 50% throttle?

I haven't heard the Billy Boat, but I have heard the Corsa... and I like it more than my Zoomers. Very tame at idle, great sound at WFO.

    My vote... Corsa.

LOL Dan, I'm surprised you've lasted this long with your current setup - I've gotten headaches riding behind you...

I'd recommend the Billy Boat over the Corsa - sounds deep & powerful like old-school muscle. There's just a touch of drone if you're workin' it down around 1300 rpms, but you can easily auto-stick around that if it bothers you.

I don't have a 6.1, but the Corsa on my 5.7 is the "Jekyl & Hyde" I was after. It's, IMO, what you describe that you are looking for. I've had mine for 18 months and love it still.

    You will NOT be disappointed!!!!!

Quiet isn't even the start of it... the tires make more noise than the exhaust at cruise. Under light pulling, it makes noise, but I would say no loucer than it did stock, and it's not a rumble, so it doesn't resonate in your skull.

What you are looking for is EXACTLY what I insisted on, and I have never second-guessed the purchase even for a split second.

i suggest a srt8 magnaflow exhaust since you wanna stay similar size to the srt8 exhaust.

anythought why you dont wanna try 2.5 inch piping? i know you knowyour stuff so i am just curious whats you reasoning. i dont think the magnaflow gets enough respect around here. mine sounds great and has that low purr when mds is engaged and wot sound mean and aggresive without being overly loud like your srt modified exhaust is. i have mid pipes as well and when i added those to the magnaflow it sounded so damn good, i get compliments from all types of corsa guys at meet and greets. they all say wow i wish i gave the magnaflow a second look.

I can tell you the Magnaflow will NOT hold up to the weather where Powerwagon lives......thats for starters.

I've heard Tariq's 300SRT w/ American Racing LT's + BillyBoat cat-backs, and it sounds really mean when he gets on it, otherwise it's pretty civilized at idle from the outside.

Corsa!! it has sneak into the neighborhood prowess at 2am OR Nascar sound at higher RPMs. The best of both worlds.
