Aftermarket Catback and Power loss

I've noticed some have claimed they lost take off power after removing the stock system. And some have gained. Is it the brand of system? Right now
I have BB 5db pipes(wife claims not loud enough), CAI and thinking of going with
the flowmasters (price), but worried about power loss.

Any power loss will be SOTP low-end torque if you just increase pipe size w/o going to a tuned system. Almost all of the tuned systems increase pipe size about 1/4", but because they are engineered correctly you don't lose any low end power. If you just change mufflers or tips w/o changing pipe diameter you shouldn't see any loss in power, and actually may gain a few (very few) HP.

I saw a loss when I went to 2 1/2" and had no other mods....loss of backpressure is my guess because when I had my guy cut in a piece of 2 1/4" my power shot up over stock. I had a full cat back with a new X pipe put in.

If you put in a intake you should not see any power loss because you will be allowing more air to flow. Hey be carefull how loud of BB you put in....my buddy put in some hella loud BB and he started rattling welds loose and had to go to a quieter system....in the long run it cost him alot more. Just my 2 cents...have fun! Later.
