    6.1 Pushrods......

By now most of you know if you are going to run an aftermarket cam with the stock head surface height you will need 6.1 pushrods to keep from having tons of lifter noise.Well,I went to pick up an order I put in and Mopar was nice enough to double the price on the exhaust rods and triple it on the intakesSo as the parts guy is getting the bill together I am expecting about $30 and he comes back and tells me $70...... again. So just so that evryone knows a set of 6.1 pushrods will now run you around $22.00 instead of $9.

I guess they are on to us..........lol

I'm confused. Were you working on a 5.7 and upgrading to 6.1 rods? Otherwise aren't you putting the same parts in? I know you do a lot of head/cam swaps for guys, so I'm assuming that this isn't your SRT8 you're referring to.

The aftermarket cams are ground on a 6.1 base circle dimension vs. the larger 5.7 cam's base circle dimension. This creates an excess lift clearance issue of approximately .050", causing excessive lifter noise.

He was talking about the 5.7's. When installing an aftermarket cam in a 5.7 (cams were ground utilizing the base circle of the 6.1) the stock intake pushrods come up a fraction short which cause the motors to become a bit noisy and chatter. In order to quiet them down, you can use stock 6.1 pushrods to close the gap.
