Better to have too many parts then not enough...............

    So far I have:

6.1 exhaust headers.... with notched port for EGR
6.1 mid pipes (used with 10,000 miles on them)
    6.1 factory exh manifold bolts
5.7 factory exhaust gaskets (I thought we needed 6.1 gaskets?)
    6.1 oil tube & dipstick
exhaust pipe reducers (2.75" to 2.50")
All the special wrenches I will need.

Need to get some O2 extensions, just in case - and some exhaust pipe clamps.

Just waiting for some cooler weather, hope to do my install in Oct.

I am keeping the EGR system.

I believe the extra hole is optional, only drill it if you want to use the extra bolt hole?
Lay the exhaust gasket onto the manifold and check out the holes in the gasket.

A new 6.1 dipstick may not be necessary, you may be able to slightly bend the 5.7 dipstick tube - if so, then you need the small spacer to bolt it back in place.

6.1 manifold on left, 5.7 manifold on right:

    Notch needed for EGR:

My notch is just started, needs to be bigger. See the dimple above it? That would be the extra bolt hole:

Here is the 5.7 exhaust gasket on top of the 6.1 exh manifold:

i JUST USED THIS WRITE UP, WELL DONE FELLOW LX'ers. Only thing i did different was i kept the egr with out the notch..no problems, but will be soon getting this turned off from the tune. I recommend anyone doing this mod, to remove motor mounts, this will make your job 10 time easier. also do the mid muffler delete...sounds GREAT feels stronger (no joke). I did run a P0401 code, but this is due to the high flow...only after i am doing above 90 MPH...stays off otherwise, but the tune will handle that..nothing major i am told. i just use the Intune and clear the code...

P.S 2 sets of hand is better than 1...make sure u have a buddy to help will make like that much easier...TRUST ME..............Oh and no bending dip stick...fit back in perfectly.

Update on my progress with my exhaust swap - I chickened out and sold all my exhaust parts......

I decided to keep my stock exhaust, the 6.1 exhaust install looked to be too much work for my son and me.
Our health is not that great and I didn't want to push our limits.

My stock RT is fast enough for me................

I did this swap to my 09 Grand Cherokee and made a big difference. Srt8 headers and complete exhaust with reso delete. Not a very hard swap to do and no lift required...... Great bang for the buck...... TBF
