    WTF!! Self starting Remote Start??

I don't know what happened but last night night my car started up 4 times by herself. I effin paniced when I heard my car start and everyone was asleep. When I looked outside I saw that the lights were flashing like I had hit the remote start. I don't remember the model but, I have a Viper Remote start alarm. Any clues why this has happened or any ways I can re-start the whole alarm? Today she has been fine, so far!!

does it start every so often at exact intervals? there is a setting on vipers to start the car every x number of mins and run for the short run time. Used to get it all the time, people were playing with the valet button and would program it to run for 15 mins every 30 mins. lol

Mine was doing this once, turned out to be a loose ground... once in a while if I would shut the door just right the car would start. I was out of town when it happened, so I called my installer and he was like bring it in when you get back, if your worried about it auto starting pop the hood and bend the bracket that holds the hood switch pin.

If you are unsure of the part Im talking about, there is a pin that your hood pushes down when its closed. if your hood is up your car wont auto start, bend the bracket so instead of the pin pointing up at the hood its level with the ground. this will trick the remote start into thinking the hood is open untill you can get it fixed.

I guess I will have to check it. It's wierd how this happened out of no where.

Some Remote Starts have a 'Cold Weather Mode' -

The Autostart has a feature that allows your vehicle to start every two hours for 5
minutes. This helps keep the engine warm during cold weather and makes starting
easier. To place the Autostart into cold weather mode, press and hold START
    Button for about 5 sec.
    Note:
LOCK & START Button will have to be pressed in order to activate cold
weather mode. When the unit has gone into Cold Weather Mode the Parking lights

    will flash 3 times quickly.

Might be a feature and not a fault

You are probably not the first person to ever have that problem - use the Search function, then use it again.

I don't care what you think of my car, I like it just fine.

    Still needs buttons pressed.

Are you sure something wasn't setting on your keys to push the button? Dog step on them or something?

Na nothing was sitting on them nd had removed the battery out of the other unit. Button must be pressed twice for her to work. Last night nothing happened. I guess it was just crossed signals in the air?

On the viper-if you press the lock and unlock buttons it will start and run for 8 minutes THAN shut down.
BUT if you press the orange star button it will run for 8 minutes/shut off and then restart every so many hours for 8 minutes so your motor doesnt freeze up in the winter. THE AMOUNT of time it runs and the amount of hours between self restart can be adjusted by the installer.
IF you step on the brake pedal this will stop the built in timer.
IF it doesnt than the brake pedal shut off wire is loose or not connected
THE way to check this is TO remote start the car than step on the brake pedal and the remote starter mode should shut down.
IF it doesnt-than theres your problem and it needs to be repaired.
THIS wire has to be hooked up-when you remote start the car and get in and turn the key to run and then step on the brake it has to shut down the VIPER and switch over to the cars own electric system or you can end up getting CEL's [and] OR burn up the torque convertor and transmission

Think about how stupid the average person is..
Then realize half of them are dumber than that
