What wire did you use for the ign? aftermarket radio

I dont have my magnum rt yet but I have been learning every thing about it. I know there is no ign wire at hand when you install the harness just two constants. I know I can splice in to the ign harnes it self but I was going to leave that for the remote start only.

You can pick up a switched 12V wire FROM one of the 12 volt outlets (lighter sockets). The one in the centre console is always on and the one in the dash where the ashtray is is switched with the ignition key.

If your replacing the stock radio with an aftermarket one you can get an adapter so you don't have to cut in to your harness.

Just installed sony head and changer

I got the switched by tapping INTO the cigarette lighter. I dont use it other than to charge the cell. P*ssed me off when i got the adapter and soldered it to the radio harness for a nice clean install. Then had to run a loose wire. Just for more infor the METRA adapter for the '04 Durango works beautifully. Even get an extra cubby hole. Heres a couple of pics

365magnum: Do you feel that your "upgrade" was really an upgrade? Between that and the "shift knob" you just made your car look 10grand cheaper IMHO.

Let's take a poll: Which car would people rather have ; 356Magnum's with the upgrades or Fred's Magnum? Oh I forgot, Fred doesn't have a Magnum ! He's only got "kind" words to Magnum owners and Brampton builders.

You're right Henry. For the record, you have to give credit where credit is due......2 points for Fred.

For anyone that has installed an aftermarket radio in their Magnum or 300, have you had any problems? I have heard that the factory head unit is on the bus and causes errors when replaced.

Do I get extra credit for my AWD RT being less than a week away FROM finally showing up at the dealership?

Computer Bus Probs WIth Aftermarket radios

Mine came with the cheapo 4 speaker system. Since I dont have the NAV or steering wheel controls, the install was pretty straight forward. The only issue is the lack of an ignition controlled power at the harness. I also have upgrade the door and rear speakers to some 3-way Sony units and added the Alpine amp and Subs. My website below has the latest pics. Still working on the the Lexan glass panel.
