    Weight Reduction-wire removal

In the never ending quest to remove ounces for the track, I am 'destranding" the wiring harnesses for circuits I will no longer use in my stripped interior.
"Destranding" was a term I never heard of till Fargo59 mentioned it.

The jumble of wire on the left will be removed from the connectors once I get Fargo to show me how.

Not shown is the removed radio antenna cable and rear wiper hose that was embedded in the harness. That was 2lbs alone.

When I worked for AT&T about 20 years ago, we used to pull all of the old copper wire out of offices when we installed new voice/data systems. We sold the copper by the pound and the money was used to fund an office party. Some people see copper wire in that photo... I see beer money.

PS... I think we need a football for the lightest LX with a set of plates on it.

    Oh no! It's gotten worse!

Well many of the wires in the first shot terminate WAY over on the other side.

Did you know the LX body harness after going to the passenger footwell area (where it has 4 connectors), snakes the the middle of the car, then heads BACK to the ashtray area, then Left just in front of the drivers seat to the drivers side, then forward to the driver door harness and 3 connectors under the dash.

So to destrand my connections, I had to undo the whole thing.....

Madness utter madness, all this for 8lbs saved, tops.

I've never said it before, but this is going way beyond. At most there's 20-25 pounds in a full wire harness, the insanity needs to stop.
