Want to add a sub and amp to factory srt8 kicker system

I have wanted to upgrade the stock sub for a minute now and keep factory REC, but wanted to do it on the cheap. I have an old school Kicker XS50 amplifier and Fosgate 10" DVC sub. The sub fits fine in the stock enclosure . I just came up on two modules for the XS50, which is why I am finally doing this. One allows the use of two modules (have Subwoofer module aready), the other is a remote gain and treble control module.

I will be tapping into fuse 18 for the remote, ground and power are easy, but not sure how to connect the rca's or signal input wires into the system. I have a soundgate locpro which gives me RCA's, just want to know which wires to tap the rcas into. Do I even need this?

In the kicker instructions, it has everything still using the stock harnesses. I like the ease of that. The parts that confuse me are steps 16-18. Do I use the locpro to tap into pins 2 and 3 (the signal input) or just get an rca to bare wire connector? In step 18, are pins 4 and 5 the speaker wires? Do I tap these and then run them to the amps speaker connections in order to keep harness functionality or just run the speaker wire direct from amp to sub? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

I used this document as a guide when upgrading my factory Kicker sub to a S10L7 with ZX400.1 mono block amp.

    What I suggest is this:

Get your hands on a Pac-Audio C2A-CHY. This simply plugs in-line behind the radio. It will give you two RCA outputs (4 wires) and a 12 volt remote turn on wire.

Mount your amp under the rear deck (that's where the factory sub amp is mounted).

Run the RCA's and remote 12V wires under the console, under the carpet and into the trunk.

From there, you can run your 2 or 4 ga wire from the battery and your ground for the amp straight to the chassis.

Go from your amp to your sub harness and you're golden!

    Hope this helps.

P.S. The C2A-CHY is a GREAT LOC for this application. The drawback to following the Kicker instructions is that when you tap off of the sub harness for your signal, you will not get full spectrum audio to your amp. In addition to this, HAL9000 defeats your bass output above 22 on the stock REC HU.
