    VES self-installed

Dealer wanted $250.00 for installation, after receiving unit and reading the enclosed directions, I thought this will be simple I can do this! Install was going great till I get ready to remove the NAV to feed the VES harness, this was the hard part (call me stupid) but I couldnt get the antenna to unplug from the rear of the NAV . Luckily there was enough slack that I was able to pull the NAV out far enough to feed the VES harness down underneath with one hand while juggling the NAV with the other hand , that wasnt to bad, but since I have uconnect and sirius I had to switch out three wires from the stock plug to the new VES harness plug, with limited space and one free hand, that was a PAIN to say the least! After some cussin and sweatin I managed to finish.

The directions state that the VES needs to be activated by starscan but mine worked without doing that.
Anyways my daughter loves it and that makes it ALL GOOD!

I was thinking about the NAv2go mod in the future, but that will have to wait till I can find out how to unplug the Antenna!

So "What is the trick to removing the antenna anyway?"
I tried a search but for some reason the search isnt my friend...

    Thanks

push lead into radio. pull out black lock ring around antenna lead. should pop right out.
Izzy pics money talks. unfortunately, mine usually says... "good bye!"

Don't feel bad, I know how to do it, and have done it a couple of dozen times, but couldn't get the thing to come out on Mr.Niftie's radio. Then Token comes along, undoes it in one shot.

I think that connector can be a little fussy sometimes.

Congrats on the project. I have VES but was way too concerned about trying that install. Very brave and sounds like things went well.

I had been debating between this mod and Nav2go for a while. Thanks to your post in the knowledge base I decided to go with both! Nav2go is next! BTW With the Nav2go mod, how do you toggle the video on and off?
    Thanks

Hey thanks! I need to clean it up though, just haven't had the time....

I paid for that rubber, I want to enjoy it over and over!

So I go to hemiwagn's place to drop off some stuff and I have my daughter with me.... She's sold on the VES and is now wondering what's taking me so long to put it in! LOL!

I had no idea how smart it was either. I thought it was just a DVD player, but when I saw how it can also select the other sources, now that rocks!

Ahh... It's only money.... Got the rain sensor on order too. I'm going to see if I can make that work.

You realise you guys are a bad influence! (Which is why I like you...)

Token, I'm much better at pushing things in, then pulling them out. I think that may have been the problem with the antenna connector!

There's 2 video inputs on the Nav2Go mod. One is switched by applying +12v to a wire ( reverse sense ) this switches to the Reverse Cam input no matter what mode the Nav2Go unit or NAV unit is in.

The second input is for DVD / Game System / etc... input. It's controlled by a toggle switch. I ended up mounting mine in the back of the ash tray area ( with the actual ash tray insert removed ). So, to switch the input, I pop out the ash tray, flip the switch, and close it back up... I love stealth installs..

I did the same thing, but put the toggle next to the lighter plug.
