I seem to recall a mod that would relay the video content playing on the VES to the nav screen, does that actually exist or am I dreaming?

Haha, yeah, I know about that. I should have clarified that's not what I meant. I recall that someone posted a DIY of how to show the video playing on the VES on the nav screen??? I just can't find it in the KB and "VES" is too short for the search engine...
let me know what you find...
I have everything done...
except the RCA cable splliced into the Rear DVD/VES unit...
and now one seems to know how to do it...
including DOM at the above linked website...
ANYONE???
Thanks!!!

Heck, I just want my $450.00 mod to work...
Your TV/Nav Go mod doesn't work or it just doesn't work with the VES?
Hi nick_danger
The mod is NOT the problem. Our mod works with VES. Cbutler32 needs to know which wire behind the VES is the composite video out so he can tap the wire and plug the RCA to my mod. I have not seen his VES unit so I don't know which wire. I remember that someone posted the color and pin number here a while ago but I can find it.
Thanks Dominic www.TVandNav2Go.com

See this accompanying story I have detailed about my experience so far with this "simple plug and play"...
Factory rear VES/DVD player does NOT work currently with TVandNAV2GO
yet...
but hopefully soon...
THIS is meant as an FYI only...
not a slam or a bad mouth bitch session...
this is to inform anyone who has the rear VES/DVD factory unit...
that currently TVandNAV2GO do NOT have a solution to tap into, splice or connect into the actual unit...
see this story...
here is what I posted to a couple of inquiring minds...
there is no real solution on how to tap into the VES unit as of yet...
the Durango picture that was floating around here...
totally different dvd unit once pulled out...
there is a 10-pin buss harness...
that plugs into the bottom of the VES unit...
the problem - not one of the wires is a video out...
most are audio...
there are two harnesses on the top that plug into the VES unit - both harnesses run very thin gauge wire - somewhere in the neighborhood of 20-28 gauge - to small to splice into with an RCA cable...
there is a very tiny 20-28 gauge wire on the top - a blue and red one - that might be the source...
the issue is how small the wire is... now way to splice a RCA cable to it...
so then the solution and thought is to solder the RCA cable onto the circuit board...
and trust me - I had the circuit board cover off last night and it is very minute in detail - honestly need a magnifying glass with some of the parts...
this is a job for a audio professional...
the hook-up of the stuff Dom provided is the easy part - honestly...
getting it to tap into the VES...
that is the MAJOR problem...
Dom has no solution per our phone conversation yesterday...
he thinks he does and say a picture of it or a solution to it - but he is thinking of the Durango and the durango ves unit IS different...
the other issue I have with Dom and their group is they have not seen one of these VES units in person yet...
so I am a little miffed about that...
as I asked specifically when I was getting ready to order...
does this work with the factory provided VES unit???
yeah, yeah - it just plugs right in...
well it doesn't...
and I am warning all those thinking about this upgrade to NOT do it and hold off until someone finds a fix...
now if you are looking to run a portable DVD player and tap in that way - this is the way to go to watch DVD's on your NAV - I will give Dom and company props for that... as well as the camera hook-up...
it will work flawlessly for you...
but with a factory VES/DVD unit - wait...
my issue is that I have a $450.00 upgrade and which I have completely torn apart the VES unit, center console and dash to make this work - and it has not...
hey life in the big city of mods right?
my point being is that he sold me something that doesn't work for our factory VES DVD units - but does for a portable dvd player...
in that application it works fine - as I tested it out last night...
this mod they are selling is a portable DVD unit only application and should NOT be even remotely considered for the tapping into our rear VES/DVD player...
so I am now looking at dropping more money on this upgrade for what i was told was a simple plug and go...
cause it just won't easily work without some professional help and someon who can solder micro fine boards...
Hope this helps for those contemplating this.

Hi cbutler32
Hope all is well. The mod 100% works with ALL VES units. You have to find the wire to tap into that brings the video from the VES to the back monitor. On your unit you don't have to go into the unit you have to tap the wire. The blue wire has nothing to do with it. The blue wire goes to the 12V reverse lights. I don't remember which pin and color wire it is, but it 100% can be done, any car audio video shop should be able to find the wire for you. There are member in the forum that have done it themselves. Saying it can't be done because you can't find the wire if NOT TRUE. I also said to you that if you were not 100% happy that you could return the mod I would credit you a full credit less shipping. I have done 100's of radio mods for the members of this forum both with VES and without and they have NEVER had any problems with my service or the product. You can either take it to a shop to find the correct wire or return it for a credit. The mod 100% works with ALL VES units.
Thanks for the help teeitup.

Dom,
read my post again...
the 10-pin harness underneath that plugs into the dvd/ves does NOT have a video out wire...
the only wire is the blue wire in the ves/dvd unit that is very thin and honestly tough to tap into...
not the blue wire from your black box...
c'mon - give me a brake...
no one here has stepped up and said they have done this mod themselves...
teeitup had his audio guy do it...
and he referred to the same wire I spoke about above...
please...
and when you say it is a simple plug and play and waway you go...
don't...
this is a major tear down to get to that one special wire...
Your unit works fine maybe on other Chrysler units before this 06' VES unit...
but not with this one as for easibility...
Yeah, let me ship it back to you for another 150.00 to have you take out the serial cable...
please...
I'll get it done at a shop here locally like teeitup did...
don't continue to mislead...
this coming from someone who told me that they haven't even seen this type of VES unit yet...
ok...

Hi cbutler32
1st there is NO charge to take the mod out. 2nd I am not misleading anyone. There is no one else is the forum that has ever had a problem with the product.
Thanks Dominic www.TVandNav2go.com![]()

it costs me $150.00 to ship to you...
cbutler32
I told you I didn't see your VES unit because you told me that there was no blue wire to tap and that it was a 06 and different that any other VES. I also told you that you had to tap the video wire from the VES and that other forum members have done it. You proceded to post in every forum that my mod didn't work with VES, but as we can see now, you have the same VES as Teeitup. You not being able to tap the wire doesn't mean I mislead anyone and doesn't mean my mod doesn't work. It can be done and it does work as many member have done. When you first bought it I said you had to tap the wire. I can't posssibly know your skill level. Saying my mod doesn't work and you not being able to tap the wire is 2 different things. I also told you in an email that if you didn't want the mod I would refund your money ($450). I can't refund the $150 you say you paid for shipping because this money didn't go to me it went to UPS. Anything you buy on the net or by mail order is always refunded less shipping. I can see that no matter what I try to do for you, you will never be happy. I have done 100's of radios for forum members and you will be the FIRST and only customer in this forum to be unhappy.

Why doesn't some expert that has done the VES mod just post a schematic and a picture of where to tap into for the VES video feed? The service manual shows only audio pinouts on the connector at the VES. If it is required to open up the VES unit and tap onto some place just show it to all of us and stop this thread. Dom's mod to the radio is not the problem. It seems that clearly and completely explaining the interconnect is the problem. Thanks, BobFam.
