ugh... why does the caliber get this and not the LX's

I have been searching HIGH and LOW for an Ipod dock now that I have the Mopar Integration kit.. I came across this:
which appears to be an option on Calibers but not the LX's

Ummm...hat to break the bad news to you but the cradle that the iPod is sitting in, isn't an option. It is standard on the Caliber. The center section of the arm rest can be flipped up like this, so you can put a cell phone or iPod in the holder. My wife was excited about it, too, when we were buying the car. But, then she started listening to Sirius, so she hasn't mentioned wiring her iPod to her Caliber since. Gives me more time to play with my Charger.

ok it's Standard, that pisses me off more...

no offense to Caliber owners but WTF Chrysler? all the cool features (heated cup holders, LED lighting, ipod docks, digital HVAC controls, etc) go on the lower priced vehicles and the $50K cars get what? cheesy unpadded center consoles and fake wood steering wheels....

hell even my GF's Camry has an Ipod dock.... STANDARD

The Caliber has lots of cool standard features... the removable/washable load floor, the ipod dock... then options like the removable domelight/flashlight, beverage cooler... but it's a little freakin car with not a lotta motor! Not saying it doesn't suck, but count your blessings you're rockin' the 300 instead :-)

Yeah, one of the selling features for my wife was the "refrigerated" glove box. Her little Caliber has some other nice features...115 volt plug (yes, you can plug a home item right into the car, like a portable TV or whatever you want with two prongs...no grounded plugs), the iPod/cell phone holder (as discussed above), flip down rear speakers on the tailgate (this is an option that her's came with), the removable light (mentioned above, another option) and a couple other things. As for the power, she has the 2.0L with 158hp (DCX rated). First thing I did was add a Mopar CAI to her Caliber when I was adding it to my Daytona as well. That did help it out a lot. Next will be doing a cat-back on her Caliber. Need to get her little Caliber running better, so she keeps her eyes off my Daytona! Either that, or get my 86 Monte Carlo SS finished, so she can drive that every now and then.

Ok, here's the deal. the Caliber is for the young hip crowd. That crowd has Ipods. They make the 300's for the old geezers. Old geezers in general don't know what an MP3 is, and have never heard of an Ipod.

That's your explanation. My dad told me.

If you can solve your problem, then what is the need of worrying? If you cannot solve it, then what is the use of worrying?

Surprisingly, a lot of the older people I know (60-80) have iPods. They love the simple interface and the fact that there are a crapload of accessories for them. I'm not an iPod fan because I'm a computer geek and can't stand iTunes and DRM. Give me a standard MP3 anyday of the week. I love the fact that I can burn 180 mp3s to a CD and stick it in my radio. The MyGig takes that further and allows you to dump your mp3s directly into the car, effectively bypassing the iPod.

I think the Caliber has these new features because it's newer then the LXes. It looks like the 2008s are getting some of these new features. I'll take a Hemi over a cooled cup holder anytime!

I test drove the six and was quite surprised by that motor. The again, back in '99 when my dad got his 300m with the same six, I thought that thing was ballsy as hell!

I love my LX because it is so roomy and smooth. I took the thing on a 900 mile trip last May, and I'm glad I had the extra room!

    Mr. iNCREDIBLE,

I'm curious as to why you want a holder for your iPod if you have the Mopar iPod integration? You can't use the control wheel on the iPod with the Mopar kit. I guess it would be easier to hook up that way, but I prefer mine hidden in my center console out of sight.

because I won't leave my ipod in the car, so it's a PITA to open the glove box disconnect etc, etc and reconnect everytime I get in the car..

I want a dock so that I can pop it in and out at will...

Oh...the Caliber only has a "pocket" for an iPod, it isn't a dock for it. You still need to run the wires to it. Would be more convienient to just unhook and slide out of that than the glovebox, though.
