I broke down and bought a Motorola V710 so I could use my Uconnect. Have note used it alot, but...

I have noticed a little static that is not there when just using the phone.

My wife complains when I call her it about static and trouble hearing me.

    Anyone else HAVING problems?

My wife told me the same thing. We had OnStar on my last vehicle and it sounded the same to her. If you talk towards the microphone she said it isn't too bad but if not its hard to hear. FYI, the microphone is on top of the rearview mirror.

I have a moto V710 and I used it quite a bit and I have been told that it sounds VERY good for a cell phone. Could be a problem with the phone. See if you can exchange it. Might be the phone or the uconnect.

I have heard static making a call FROM my parking lot at work with my V710 inside the office on my desk, just over 30 feet away. The "poorer" bluetooth connection, the more static-ie the sound will be. There migth be something wrong with your uconnect or phone.

If you just bouht the phone, take it back and tell them you are HAVING static in the "headset". A few reports on the internet of people with headset problems returned their phones for replacements and I think I remember the replacements being better.

No static with Sony Ericsson T608. Sounds like a mono (non-stereo) device to me in comparison to the Satellite Radio those incomming calls interrupt.

I'll take the phone back today and exchange it. I am also thinking of doing a mod here. The placement of the microphone is less than optimal. How about in the triangular area between the tops of the large guages? A black mic should be pretty unnoticable there and pretty close to in-line with the person talking.

I thought the mic was on top of the rear view mirror. Seems like good placement for me. And people have told me it sounds great and you can hear everyone in the car. Just my thoughts though.

I have the Motorola V600 and the sound quality is great. The only problem is the battery indicator doesn't work.

If it is the after market u-connect it is recommended that the mic be placed on the overhead light module on the left side as you are looking at it. I was told by u-connect technical that it is not recommended to change this position because the car was measured for sound etc. and this was the best place to install it. I put the controller on the center hump next to my right knee and it works fine. I use the Ericcson T616 and have been told that it is very clear and people are suprised that I am talking handsfree.

Another thing to try....Make sure the rear view mirror is as low down as possible to give it room FROM the roof line and overhead console. The manual says it needs 1/2" FROM any obstructions. When I picked up my car, the rear view mirror was as high up as possible and I couldn't even see the microphone on top until I lowered it....
