    uconnect module location

I am attempting to add the factory uconnect to my car. For anyone that is trying to do this make sure when you ORDER your harness FROM the mirror you get the right one. You need to take INTO account whether you have rain sensing wipers. Does anyone know where the modual goes. I looked behind the glove box and there are no empty plugs or an apparent spot for placement. Some said it was on the drivers side by your right knee.A location would greatly help me. Also the plugs that hold the wire to the roof are impossible to remove without snaping off the connector in the roof. There are four of these on a cable two feet long. It would hold my weight suspended FROM a ceiling. Talk about over building! Replacement impossible.

Service manual shows the hands free module installed behind the glove box. It is hard to tell FROM the drawing exactly where but it is behind the glove box.

Thanks, I just can't find it. Would it be safe to assume the wiring harness and plug be there some where?

How difficult is it to remove the glove box? If it is pretty easy I would be willing to remove mine and take some pics if you need. May take me a day or so to get to it but I would be glad to help.

Thank you actually the glove box removes without any tools. On each side near the rear are tabs. One on each side. Pull them in and the box drops down. On the right unplug the string- it comes off easy and just DROP the box and pull forward and the box comes off. I can do it in about 45 seconds. Thanks. PS goes back together even easier.

Alright. Think I got what you need. The module is located on the right side near the front of the dash. Here is a picture to help see what I am talking about.

Hope this is what you need. You were right, the glove box comes out really easy. Let me know if you need additional photos.

Thanks for your photo's. ATTENTION EVERYONE! Don't buy the original factory module and mirror because the car does not have the right wiring harness. The wiring harness is $400 plus removing the dash and extensive wiring. about $1200 plus componets of 500. Not practical or worth it. Don't buy the modules and mirror and then get stuck with them. Just buy the dealer uconnect.
