I wonder if I can stuff the guts of my factory kicker subwoofer into one of those? It would be nice to free up that space.

Good point. Maybe the same amount of space but in a different location. The Kicker sub sits behind the driver's side rear seat and dosen't fold with the seat back.

If the bassforms box fits into the recess in storage area, it would free up the space behind the seat.

Just not sure if the amp would fit inside the bassforms box. I need someone to do this first so I can ride their coat tails

mmm i have never heard of someone putting the amp inside of a sub box. Especially sealed the thing will over heat.. Plus you wont want to put it in there because it takes away from the space the subwoofer will need. Have you ever considered mounting your amp either on the opposite side passenger side recess area or take the deck lid cover off and mount it upside down to the deck lid?

Ok, I'm about 2 hrs away, do i have the option to pick up instead of paying for shipping? great excuse to get on the Highway. Also, wasn't there an earlier group buy where the price was $130, so $260 for the pair? In this economy, shouldn't the group buy be getting cheaper?..lol

this is the only group buy i know of for these boxes. contact tom (tbyrne) on the pickup vs. shipping. as far as the amp inside the box, it would decrease your airspace.

decrease your airspace, and the amp will over heat. the heatsinks need to have air pass over them, the box wont be sealed, you wont be able to tune it properly, and will have to take out the sub each time to mess with it. Installin for over 10 years and never once did that, besides, you wanna show that bad boy off

Thanks for the feedback. I know the factory kicker sub leaves a lot to be desired but it would have been nice if they had mouned it in a way that doesn't interfere with the maggie's cargo area. I'm pretty sure the amp for it is built into the box. Would have been nice to take the guts out and stuff them in a bassform. On the other hand, I think I have a Precision power amp stashed away some where. I could put it in the spare well and then use the bassforms with another speaker... Hmmm. I see a summer project coming

oh now i understand why you think the amp is in the box, if your looking for it, its in the center speaker hole in the rear deck, some people have oem boston subs there those with the kicker soundsystem with the sub the amp is in a metal circular plate in the center of the rear deck lid between the 6x9's..

As far as picking the boxes up goes... Pretty sure this can be done, talk to Tom, but a guy on another forum was able to work something out with tom and go and pick up both a left and right box!
    Good luck
