Sunroof quits - pulling and reinstalling fuse resets

My sunroof acts like it is the victim of a software issue. "Rebooting" the circuit via a fuse pull will clear the issue and allow it to open and close normally.

It's happened 3 times in the last 2 weeks. I have not been able to correlate this to anything in particular that I am doing.

    Any ideas?

Actually I do that too, I just don't open the sunroof. I love the fresh air in the car.

yup.. I used to travel to NYC for my last company and always tried to get a convertible as the rental, then drive around NYC in Feb with a convertible top down, unless it was actually snowing..

even them New Yorkers thought I was nuts...

I have those gremlins in my electrical system also. fuse pulling seems to fix it for a lil while at least.

Mine did this for the first time today. It did that thing where it backs up while closing like there is something in the track, I said **** it 'cause I was parked in my garage... And when I got back in, it wouldn't move at all. I turned the car off then back on and held the 'lift' button and it closed. But it was weird.

Just for those that do not know, the sunroof is fuse #44 in the rear power distribution. It is one of the square fuses with the clear top.

Is there a relay for the sunroof? Maybe a bad relay.

I found this and I do have a CHYP module for iPod so it makes sense

    CHYP issue
I just wanted to chime in that I have the exact same issue: My Ipod CHYP makes my sunroof completely unresponsive until I pull out the 44 fuse for 5 seconds, and put it back in. The sunroof never loses power while in motion, it will simply not work when I start my car sometimes. This happens anywhere between a few days, or almost a month. The fuse never blows, and increasing the amperage on the fuse does nothing. I was going to try to put a capacitor in line with the fuse, but instead ran a wire underneath the carpet to under the drivers seat. If my sunroof ever stops working, I flick the switch off and on again. A little crude, but it works.

I still don't know an actual resolution to the issue. It looks like the CHYP has a weird power output or fluctuation when the car is started, and there must be some logic or a lower amperage circuit breaker in the sunroof circuit which only resets when power is completely lost from the system. I can't say for certain, but it seems logical since the audio system receives power even when the vehicle is off, and disconnecting the battery or pulling the fuse fixes it every time. (I've read on other threads that the sunroof does have some logic which is to prevent damage to the sunroof components, and have also read that the sunroof does has a recalibrate feature which is done by pulling the fuse while the sunroof is in motion, but I haven't verified this myself)

Bump for an fix to this?
I just installed my iConnect (or whatever) iPod hookup, and 2 days later my sunroof dies...
If I take it to the dealer for the upgrade software, anyone know if I would have to pay for this?
